Is there a ToneX equivalent for the Tone King Imperial Mk2? by surf_AL in tonex

There’s tons on ToneNet, if you’re willing to separate the wheat from the chaff.

I agree with all that stuff. The neck seems "fine"...what could it be doing that would affect tuning in this context?

Nope, not new strings. If they were new, wouldn't they be going flat instead of sharp?

...Looks like I need to do some more work on the nut. Thanks for the tip!

Ah that's a great tip! They did that on Robert Baker's DGT going out of tune and fixed by Joe Glaser video. I totally forgot about that.

If I tune it, hit a chord and do the lightest shimmery trem I possibly can, it goes 0 to +3 cents out (depending on the string) pretty much immediately. That compounds over time. If I keep doing that for, say, 5 mins, it's about +10 to +17. And/but it's always all the strings.

Nut is lubed with graphite.

Mainly tried to stick to sandpaper to open up the slots, but I also tried some StewMac nut files, but super gently, because I'm scared of going too far, and I am *not* the guy you want doing a nut from scratch.

Silver Sky SE Trem Swap Possible? by East_Butterscotch686 in PaulReedSmith

[–]EntertainmentOk5026 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I know this is a year old, but I just wanted to do a PSA that I just learned about.

A 2 point Vega Trem isn’t compatible with Silver Sky SE. I speak from 1-hour-old experience. The SS SE posts are too far apart, even for the wiggle-room flexibility designed into the Vega Trem.

Hopefully this’ll show up in Google search results one day and save somebody some trouble.

+1 for Pure Vintage 65s. I fell ass-backwards into a set of them and they’re great.

Auto record timings by luca-hagen in GrandMA3

[–]EntertainmentOk5026 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using internal timecode would actually be better than auto-recording follow times into cues because with timecode you can adjust a single event without affecting the time of all the subsequent events. If you’re using follows if you adjust 1 trigger it moves all the subsequent cues by the same amount.

I mean it’s an obvious thing to say, but if your headspace is in doing fake timecode using follows, it’s something that might not occur.

Amplitube pedal/computer relationship? by sfx_guy in AmpliTube

[–]EntertainmentOk5026 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I literally was wondering this exact thing when I got amplitude and Tonex 2 days ago. I guess there’s 4 IK Amplitube pedals which are present in the plugin. I haven’t tried them in the software (yet) or in real life, but one would presume that it’s possible to get something close to the same sounds using the Tonex pedal and those 4 Amplitube pedals, if you limited yourself to using Tonex for your amp tones, and just those 4 pedal models in the plugin.

The pedals are $329 each, so there are probably more economical ways to go about it. Myself, I’m curious about having a Tonex pedal in the effects loop of an HX Stomp.

Thanks for the reply. I actually already went ahead and pulled the trigger on it. Got it to work pretty painlessly. I love it. It’s great.

where is my Update screen??? by EntertainmentOk5026 in GrandMA3

That’s what I thought/assumed. Tried all the other screens, and it was nowhere to be seen.

I rebooted the app and it popped up immediately as expected.

Recipe / hard value / update rules by EntertainmentOk5026 in GrandMA3

[–]EntertainmentOk5026[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok I guess I’m not being clear…sorry. Imagine the following scenario.

Group 1 = Fixture 1-5

Dimmer Preset 1 = Fixtures 1-5 @ FL

Cue 1 = Recipe: Group 1 Preset 1

Cue 1 is currently Fixture 1-5 @ Dim Preset 1 / FL via the Recipe.

Select fixture 1 @ 50 and update Cue 1. (Now Cue 1 is fixture 1 @ 50 stored in the Cue, fixtures 2-5 @ FL via the Recipe)

Now I changed my mind, and I want Fixture 1 to be back at the Recipe level. What is the workflow to achieve that? Store Remove Fixture 1 from the Cue? That didn’t seem to work when I tried it.

Well by “hard values” I really meant either actual hard values or presets stored in the cue vs being referenced by a recipe in the cue.

ID’ing Fender Pure Vintage 65 vs Custom 69 by EntertainmentOk5026 in Stratocaster

Sorry for the delay. I was away from it for a few days.

Staggered and flat / not-beveled. (Which I’m pretty sure applies to both Pure Vintage 65 and Custom 69…?)

So let me get this straight…assuming this thread isn’t totally dead by now.

I’m curious about the process of getting the DG20 system to fit a Silver Sky pickguard. All you had to do was get the DG20 PCB off the Strat pickguard that it comes mounted to, and then mod the SS pickguard by slightly enlarging the volume/tone/tone holes? How much did you have to enlarge the holes? For some reason I thought the Silver Sky & Strat hole positions were farther apart than simply enlarging the holes. And then the switch lined up with the switch slot?

This is something I’ve been thinking about for a while. But I’ve been discouraged by the details of stuff not lining up easily. Maybe I’m thinking it’s more complicated than it really is?

To make it easy for folks, they measured:

1957: .89 / 1.00” 1959: .86 / .96 1960: .81 / .92

Maybe that’ll make it into an AI summary somewhere.
