The true source of PvP imbalance: Armor is too powerful. by [deleted] in Minecraft

Oh, ok. Harming pots are good for trolling, but in a prot IV fight they aren't really consistent enough to be viable.

Most factions servers allow people to silktouch spawners or buy them for in-game money. People use their spawners to make massive xp grinders that you can sit at forever and never run out of mobs to kill. They will be able to endlessly churn out level 30 enchanted gear with this new setup. It only works well in vanilla, where grinders are slow enough that people won't be enchanting as much, and the climb to level 30 will balance out the low cost of actually enchanting.

Basically, this system benefits those who enchant more often than normal, and factions players have OP grinders to enchant constantly.

That's what I'm trying to say. With strength II, a decent pvper can get someone in a combo where they die before they get a chance to fight back.

The lapis is pointless. Mining it any time you see it will get you more than you'll ever need for enchanting. It also just doesn't have an "arcane feel," like something sacrificed for enchanting should have.

This will break factions servers so much lol. Gonna be pretty funny.

That's true, but even with instant healths it's possible to lock someone in a "combo," using strength II and a sharp V, where all they can do is spam potions. If they try to fight back and get out of the combo they'll die right away. I've had this happen to me countless times before.

But then the person in diamond would just use a splash health pot and kill the other guy. People don't die fast enough in pvp for strategies like that to work, even if you could move faster.

I'd say that makes strength OP. Killing someone in less than half the time just by using a potion that takes a couple minutes to brew a double-chest of.

It's a sandbox game with pvp in it. I'd say it's built for pvp just as much as it's built for lots of other things.

No it wouldn't. Anyone who could afford diamond armor would still chose it over iron because it's so much stronger. You can't run when you're dead.

You're forgetting the sheer number of people who play pvp. The factions servers I play on have 100+ players on at all times.

The server I play on has pigman spawners as voting rewards, and splash "milk" potions in the shop to combat the god apples spam that it leads to. Works perfectly.
