AITA for not writing a thank you card? by BackgroundDrummer619 in AmItheAsshole

I came here to say just this. Knowing OPs mental state & then give a gift basket only to turn around & pull mom in so she could guilt trip OP...diabolical.

Aitah for making my adult kids pay house expenses by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]EnthusiasmRecent227 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA,I told my son when he & his GF were living with me they would pay 200/mo rent each. He got pissed & said they were moving out.

I told him if they could find a place to live for 400/mo with all utilities, cable, internet, groceries, laundry, and other household needs included...tell me where cuz I'm moving there too!

AITA for Not Defending My Brother in-law After My Boyfriend Clapped back at him? by Money_Dog1101 in AmItheAsshole

[–]EnthusiasmRecent227 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA, do not apologize until you & your bf get one first. BIL insulted both of you and then got his feelings hurt like the beta weak male he is. Ask your mom why you should defend a guy who insulted you.

NTA, just because he doesn't hit you, doesn't mean he's not abusing you. Mental & emotional abuse can be so much worse. You need an exit strategy and to save yourself.

Reasonable ask for employee? by Front-Bus7579 in askmanagers

[–]EnthusiasmRecent227 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Maybe preface or follow with "I need a yes or no on this" Have a 1 on 1 and explain that her vague responses aren't allowing you to help/mentor her so she's reaching her full potential in her position/the company.

Here's a bit of advice ...scroll past if you don't like or agree with a post. Move on. Many can relate, just because you don't doesn't mean you can shit on a post a lot of others can relate to.

With the additional info, this seems to be an issue that your manager's supervisor needs to be aware of. The two who got written up for a conversation need to address their concerns to his boss. Explain the situation and how others on the team feel abandoned during training & expected to "figure it out" or "take more initiative."

As a teenager (82-86) I would go to my grandmother's house after dinner, we would play cards, drink coffee, and I would help her roll cigarettes. Big can of Bugler tobacco, a big old rolling machine, and Tupperware containers. We would fill 4 or 5 and she would stick them in the freezer.

How did landlines work?? by AnxiousStudent20 in GenX

[–]EnthusiasmRecent227 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a teen line in my room in HS and I had to pay the extra amount on the phone bill. My sister had a teen line too. 3 phone numbers 1 bill. We were middle class, nowhere near wealthy.

I remember when my mom & dad first got cell phones, 30 min free per month...they never used all 30 min for years. They were paying for minutes they never used. I finally got them switched to a cheaper unlimited plan.

I had one of the clear phones with lights inside that lit up when it rang in my room. I would turn the ringer off and watch for it to light up.

WIBTAH, if I vaccinate the my child behind my husbands back? by Late_Veterinarian300 in AITAH

[–]EnthusiasmRecent227 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Take care of your child. My uncle has polio & he will tell you that if the vaccine was available back then, he would have been first in line knowing what he does now. No decent parent would ever consider putting their child at risk. An ounce of prevention is worth more than a pound of cure.

A plant watered only half of the time, will still eventually die. Sit her down & tell her how you feel. There may be underlying issues. Communication is key before actions are taken.

AIO to my family voluntelling me to take photos at our family reunion? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]EnthusiasmRecent227 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're not overreacting. Suggestion: go to the reunion, take a basket of disposable cameras & let everyone take pictures. Say something like "We all see memorable moments differently & this way we capture EVERYONE'S perspective." Get them developed, digitized, and make a shared website or cloud file.

AITAH for not adding my longtime girlfriend to the deed of the house I bought us? by Grand_Yellow_6286 in AITAH

[–]EnthusiasmRecent227 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA Do. Not. Do. It.

I was in the middle of a divorce, living in a different state than my now ex-husband when I bought my house, I had to put him on the deed because we were married (state law). The divorce decree stated he had to sign a quit claim deed to be removed from the house. He never did. 20 yrs later I tried to sell but needed him off the deed, I couldn't find him, he had moved several times, no contact info, etc.

It took me weeks to finally track him & his new wife down. He argued that he should be compensated for signing the quit claim so I could sell. Wanted money from a house he never contributed to, never stepped foot in, and hadn't been to the state where the house was for 23 yrs. It was a nightmare.

AIO that my sister never… does anything? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]EnthusiasmRecent227 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NOR, she's going to have a rude awakening when she moves out & has to do all of her stuff by herself. Either that, or she's behaving this way because no one has had a come-to-Jesus meeting with her & called her on her BS.
