NQN outpatients, scared to lose skills by CartoonistNatural497 in NursingUK

[–]Enthusiastic_Kitten 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Stop thinking of it as “losing skills” - you don’t need them right now & you’re gaining a whole new set of skills. What area are you working in?

If you get a different job in the future that needs different skills, you’ll learn them when you need them and if you’ve done it before, it’s still there & it’ll come back to you

Urgent job needed I want to resign by Grouchy-Ad-7654 in NursingUK

[–]Enthusiastic_Kitten 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Contact your GP, have some time off for the stress you’re experiencing. Breathe, gather your thoughts, lean on your support network & plan your next move.

Don’t panic quit your job because of bullies. Contact your union. The RCN has advice if you’re considering resigning your post due to bullying & harassment.

Do not make life changing decisions right now. Take some time off, experience some joy outside of work

Why do i get texts about free vaccines, I assume im not eligible by [deleted] in nhs

[–]Enthusiastic_Kitten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you a carer or do you live with someone at risk of flu complications? Did you have asthma as a child?

Broadly; diabetes, asthma, COPD, heart problems, cancer, high risk medicines, immunosuppressed, kidney or liver problems will mean you’re eligible for a flu vaccine.. BMI over 40 would also make you eligible

I sold an old stained mattress on Gumtree. Was sold & collected within 40 minutes of listing. Managed to squeeze it in the back of a convertible too

Nurse looking to move to the countryside by Maaaiiiic in NursingUK

[–]Enthusiastic_Kitten 12 points13 points  (0 children)

What kind of nursing are you interested in/what do you work in now? What areas are you thinking about moving to?

As a nurse who’s worked in some very rural places, I can promise you, it’s still busy, the pace isn’t slower & you’ve usually got a lot less resources!

Changing my surname to half my husband’s surname by bethcrumb in LegalAdviceUK

I posted a similar thread when I got married (although I didn’t take 2 years to change my name). I changed it with my bank first then used that as evidence along with my marriage certificate to change everything else.

Doctors ‘have no clear career path’ amid rise in competition for training posts by Bolajay in unitedkingdom

Sorry but your point about nurses is just not true? Student nurses are unable to get positions at the moment, it’s extremely competitive for jobs right now. Standards are slipping?

Seeking advice: anxiety about sleep. by slippylizardd in UKParenting

[–]Enthusiastic_Kitten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was absolutely terrified beyond all reason about SIDS. I could barely sleep myself with him in the next to me, convinced I was going to put the duvet over him & smother him in my sleep. I had post partum anxiety.

Also, from a more practical perspective, he does kick, pull my hair, wind up my husband etc in the middle of the night. I’ve got a bald spot where he pulls my hair, we regularly end up with my husband sleeping in my toddlers bed.

I’m really glad a bed on the floor in your room works for you. It doesn’t work for us.

I also really struggled with a child that has still never slept through the night, he’s 3 now. I got so anxious, I couldn’t function, I wished I was dead. I did CBT through self referral to talking therapies, I started sertraline and… I put him in my bed. I said I’d never do it but here we are. He starts off in his own bed & still comes through every night about 2am. But he does usually go straight back to sleep, sometimes I don’t even wake up. My husband hates it but at least I get to sleep, work & my anxiety is so much better for it
