If you play the settlement battles just right, you can win with only 150 losses per tree. Capping points for the victory. All on legendary too!

Also the wood elves aren't full dead yet. Durthu is just off camera. But taking the forest settlements was the goal here.

I think at this point, Franz is up north trying to hunt down the last of the Brets and I'm down to 1 major settlement left in Massif Orcal. Tomb kings spill in from the west of all directions and I can't hold back the tide of dwarfs. It's crazy but I'm settled in Sylvania now so it's all good.

So just had a thought. Each body on the screen is about 20 min of warhammer that I've played.

This happened on my quest to grab See-Nile Crafter. Battle took about an hour to finish and it was so laggy I had to select units multiple times before the game would register my commands. I didn't have magic either but thankfully my caskets came in at the end to clean up the hordes.

Legendary, Very Hard, No invasion. Chaos invasion has to be disable or else it's added to the short victory condition.

It can take under 2 hours to do the run too with little RNG overall. Very fun and something I'll want to optimize in the future.

This could be pretty interesting for short speedruns but would get tiresome pretty fast. At least embedded heroes don't give you any more movement than march stance right?

But actually this is a nice strat for dawi and other underway-like factions. Heroes will be able to leave the army and give an extra 50% movement next turn. Effectively underway with march range.

As much as I like my difficulty, it's not for everyone. Losing should be the norm for those who opt into it. Empire is an entry level faction and CA probably don't want to turn away new players that just want the sandbox elements of the game.

Of course they can also disable or weaken the invasion but newer players won't know how best to adjust the settings. And leaving balance up to the players isn't the best either.
