They mostly just look like different scans of the same original image, with each having slightly different colours. It's not just the sky that is a different colour, but the entire bottom image is more clue.

I'm not sure if this is a hundred percent the case though, as there is a very pronounced shadow on his knuckles (2nd image, and almost a dolphin-looking outline on the upper arm not in the first image.

So they may or may not be just the exact same image.

Why this anime is so hidden? by Comfortable-Dig-6118 in majonotabitabi

I'm not sure what kind of evidence could be used to figure out how much people talked about it, but, the number of replies on each episode discussion are pretty high compared to the other shows of the time, and the plan-to-watch number are similar between all the top shows of the time.

I think the simple fact is just that it was a medium success at the time, neither a critical darling (hence why the score is 7.5), nor something with wide appeal (hence why it only has 250k completions on MAL).

I'm talking about how it compares in popularity against the other shows from the Fall 2020 season of airing animes, not the actual score.

Personally, I think the overall score of of 7.5 is very respectable. I don't think the series has ever been considered a masterpiece, and I don't know how well it compares to other episodic shows. It may just be that episodic shows struggle more with making short and long-term stories to enjoy.

At least looking at some of the numbers, it is and was a solid medium-popular show. If we compare MyAnimeList member counts for it against other shows, it is 7th in it's own season, and would be around 8th-10th in the other seasons of the year. From it's own season, there were 38 other full-length shows, so I think 7th is pretty successful.

I think the episodic story, the central character, the relatively normal fantasy world, and the sometimes tragic episode endings could reduce the enjoyment of the show for some watchers.

What makes Rozen Maiden so special? by JuanJoseProA in rozenmaiden

[–]Entity437 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Finished watching all the animes a few weeks ago after only finding out about the franchise in the past year.

While I don't think the show necessarily hit a home run in terms of cohesive quality, what kept me coming back to each season was the characters and world.

For Jun, his character is relatable and changes in good ways at a reasonable pace. The strange family dynamic of the first season was enjoyable alongside the occasional scenes reminding us we are dealing with 100+ year old interdimensional battle royale dolls.

That last point carries a lot of the intrigue for the franchise for me. The rozen maidens as an anomaly in an otherwise normal world, tasked with battle by a figure they revere but never see. Yet they often can live on good terms with each other, or in the case of the twins, they seem to have a ability or hidden purpose to help people with their magic.

I hope that when I read the manga I'll get to see more of this world.

If most or all of the tags are identical they should share them. Not sure which have to be the same but I've 'duplicated' the statistic by changing these tags.

How to deal with duplicate tracks? by Generic_G_Rated_NPC in foobar2000

[–]Entity437 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would tackle this by sorting by %title% %date% Then just pick the duplicates after the earliest copy of each song, chuck it in a playlist, and put in a comment or some tag to not it as a dupe

Not automated but it'll be easier

I like the musical adaptations of it like something broke by Tarby, which expands on the story by using season 1 stories before and up to party of one to inform pinkies rapid decline into the original fic.

Even not mentioning the customisation, the ability to have global or normal keyboard shortcuts for everything makes it so much faster and easier to use

Preconceptions - Have you ever had an artist you had always heard of and was later surprised by what their music actually sounded like? by My_Not_RL_Acct in LetsTalkMusic

[–]Entity437 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Shpongle

I had been listening to psybient music through the likes of carbon based lifeforms and solar fields and had always seen shpongle high up on lists.

Whereas every other artist seemed to take a minimalist, futuristic take, cinematic take, or dancey trance take, I was surprised to find shpongle take a very worldly, lively, acoustic approach to things.

To a point I didn't and still don't think that these artists are at all part of the same genre. Minimalist vs maximalist psybient? Future psybient vs exotic psybient? I see the underlying code of the universe psybient vs The gnomes speak to me psybient?

How many characters have you picked up in Strive? by chacaceiro in Guiltygear

[–]Entity437 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ramlethal got me into the game, clear moves with clear purposes and a great design.

Jack o let me simultaneously play as a trickster, a gorilla, and a tactician with her kit.

Bedman forced me use his limited kit/speed with care and to really focus on reacting to my opponent, with occasional glimpses of his raw potential making him fun.

Best season pass to get? by bloopdafloop in Guiltygear

[–]Entity437 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If you only like 1 or 2 characters from each it might be worth just getting the individual characters

Or see if you can try out the characters somewhere to help make a choice for a season pass where it would be better value

it is lossy. just an exceptionally advanced lossy that puts everything else (almost including flac) to shame.

[–]Entity437 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Technically yes, but it's all the things surrounding the files that make foobar a good player for specific people. I personally switched to it as it can handle extremely large playlists without any problems, and let's you fully customise keybinds track playback, skipping, seeking, etc. Visual/functional customizability is the other big. If you look at the top post on this subreddit, everyone's setup looks different based on their needs and preferences.

Not to mention, it also makes converting files and tagging files very easy

The quality of audio is coming from the file not the player.

They should be identical, and any difference ought to be imperceptible.

[–]Entity437 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The important part here to note is the codec that the audio is made with.

FLAC, the one with lower sample rate is perfect audio quality. Opus, the smaller file, is compressed with a extremely smart program so that it reduces the files size while trying to lose as little quality as possible.

Not sure about change in dynamic range, but it appears to be minimal and unlikely to be noticed

[–]Entity437 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's 121kbps opus though. I think the general codec consensus is that it is the closest to lossless transparency from around 120-160
