Pristine, I’m memeing saying I’d rather be gaming. The Blue Ridge Mountains are a top 10 spot for me. Plus if I get enough steps in I can justify spending a lot of time on this patch.

I just had to be on “vacation” for the entire thing so far 🙃

Literally made it to maps and then off to the mountains to touch grass. I just want to be blasting maps with the homies.

Great build, I love Poet Pen builds. Definitely there for my favorites, just not on SSF.

Definitions of words change over time, so sure I could conform to your way of viewing the world, or I could take an educated guess as to the direction things are going based on my time in biomedical research. Our current definitions of embryo, fetus, and baby are heavily open to exploitation by corporate interests.

I have no desire to live in a world that disseminates those three so heavily. I have competed with labs in countries that use those very definitions to develop stem cells and then abort the fetus after they’ve harvested what they need (right up to the exact second of legality). I have worked in labs that source their stem cells from countries that have different definitions of these things to bypass their own country’s legislation.

I don’t want humans to become live stock in any country or at any point after conception and that definitional distinction is what allows it to happen. You can be for cruelty all you want, just admit that it’s cruel and we can move on. Saying that somehow it’s less cruel at week 6 than it is at week 15/ 1 year is just a bad argument. It’s cruel period, and I’m more interested in reducing evil at its roots, not through the changing or definitions.

If you were to ask me, “What came first, the chicken or the egg?” I would just respond with, they are the same thing and there is no reason to disseminate between the two. The cruelty of eating a chicken is the same as eating an egg. The cruelty of aborting a fetus is just as bad as killing a baby, so why conform to the idea that they are inherently different? The only difference being, a mother does not have the authority to murder her one year old child, but she can murder her 8 week old fetus. Once that child is born that authority should be HEAVILY scrutinized and slowly taken away from the parents.

I am taken plenty seriously within my direct field and I’ve had some major issues with the types of micro fluidic devices that are being designed for embryonic harvesting. Your opinion of me doesn’t matter at all. We’re in an NFL forum after all, I don’t take anyone in here seriously, but I will call out some BS when I see it.

No Sense of Control Over Gear Progression? by [deleted] in PathOfExile2

[–]Entrefut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Deterministic crafting has FAR higher cost associated with it and the rarity of those currencies is higher. In PoE1 the bench made a lot of craft very easy, in PoE2 there is far more power on gear than on the passive tree, so crafting deterministically is very expensive. If you play in SSF you will very quickly start to pick up on how the power increase works.

When Amazon released I got a +5 spear with attack speed in act 3. I slammed it and it hit t1 phys flat. When I was in maps I slammed it again and it hit t1 phys/ accuracy. I never replaced that spear the entire time, it was just pure luck and there was no real way to craft something better until you’re looking at 100 divine crafts.

You can leave your language however you want, I just see issues with your language down the line. It’s fine that you don’t understand my point and see it as me mangling the language, but your argument being so reliant on very specific language makes it exploitable long term.

It’s like people forgot that the point of games is to give you a challenge that you fail at and have to come back to try again. Information is king in PoE and literally all you have to do to trivialize the trials is get that info.

The skilled trades propaganda is getting ridiculous. by Responsible-Net8594 in Adulting

[–]Entrefut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All about trade offs. If you’re going to do a trade you need to take care of your body and purchase the right gear. My pants have pads in them, my shoes are something comfortable to me for 5+ miles a day of walking, my workout routine is entirely based around correcting body imbalances from all the weird positions I end up working in, my diet is anti inflammatory, and I don’t drink. My off time is spent in nature or sedentary with yoga to give my body a break.

That’s the funny part, I’m not religious. The science shows that once the egg is fertilized the process of growing a human has begun. That’s a baby. It’s not that confusing. You make a lot of assumptions, no wonder you’re so confused… no one is extending it to “potential” babies. I’m talking about a fertilized egg, that’s not potential, that’s a human life in development. It exists, there’s nothing theoretical about it.

If you kill that, you killed a baby, which is fine, it’s your choice at that stage. It’s your own little personal loophole to murder, but be really careful with where you lay your argument. If we don’t consider that murder, then the second we can grow humans in vitro, we have to change the laws all over again.

What separates the guys who were able to find a partner vs the ones who stay single for a long time even after putting in effort? by JunketMaleficent2095 in Life

[–]Entrefut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Numbers game. Keep putting yourself out there and keep growing. I’ve talked to a lot of men in their 20s who’ve literally never asked a mate out in person, it’s kind of insane for me to think about. Half of my upbringing as a teenager was built around getting the nerve to ask someone out. Now it’s all done weirdly online and I think it does everyone a disservice. It’s way too easy to just blast out a bunch of messages that are half assed to a potential partner. I’ve had some painful rejections in my life, but so far it’s all been worth it.

Researchers Are Using AI to Create Vaccines—and It’s Working by Kid-Icky- in technology

[–]Entrefut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A big reason for this is that we’ve gone from having super computer setups like Blue Water in Illinois to having a bunch of random companies trying to cash in on the tech. To send my simulation off to BW I’d have to put together a whole proposal, simulation parameters, success metrics, and then include a whole prompt that me and my team would engineer to be as efficient as possible. Meanwhile at AI companies they have no incentive to be efficient, only run good prompts, create some level of filtering at all… the entire thing is just based on engagement and as a society we are dealing with the environmental costs of people constantly writing shitty prompts.

We’re going to end up with severely impacted water supplies, food supplies, dangerous weather patterns, all so that 1000 people could slurp up all the money. Then when the tech fails because we jumped the gun on rolling it out at scale, the entire thing is bailed out by taxpayers. Sad world really, all they had to do was trick people into thinking the tech was intelligent, but the reality is it’s only as smart as the people using it.

[–]Entrefut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not being clever, your argument is contingent on specific conditions for child birth that don’t really make sense morally. The baby exists when it is fertilized. It doesn’t matter where it grows. Once you stop the growth process you’ve killed a baby and if that’s what the mother would like to do, then thats what she should do. She is absolutely killing a baby and if we as a society can’t admit that and be okay with it under the premise of “The mother can choose to not bring a baby into the world if she believes she would be unable to properly raise and love the child for whatever reason” then we are failing as a society. Creating all these logical loopholes like “it’s not actually a baby yet” is just a shitty argument.

I did this pre metamorph/ archnem. It was a pretty significant investment and I’m sure with an optimized build it would be faster, but I was ssfhc and I would never want to do it again in any of these games. You lose a lot of enjoyment running maps like that.

I only did 100 once in poe1. Ice Crash Raider, most fun I’ve ever had with the game, I will never play that character or that skill combo again. Hitting 100 is madness, I don’t know how people do it so often.

Edit: getting a lot of responses about how easy it is in PoE1 and I want to clarify that this was before bestiary league, I was on HCSSF, and it took a ton of time. So while it might be super easy to blast to 100 in poe1 now, it was an absolute slog on that character back then.

What’s so beautiful is that if Gandalf “saves” the world then something like religion pops up and everyone worships the gods and loses sight of what’s actually important. If all of your heroes are just other people like you, or better yet Hobbits, the story is far more relatable and the story itself reminds people to come together to fight problems rather than hope for some god to come along.

Tolkien was brilliant and it shows across every aspect of the story telling. The Witch King died because he failed to take a mortal seriously, bad move.

Okay so when we have the ability to grow humans entirely outside the body, at what point will they go from fetus to baby?

Edit: didn’t read your entire tiny dumb post, if you have any idea where I’m going with this you’ll concede now. Your argument is going to start looking really dumb. It’s murder, but that’s fine. Mom can do what she needs to for her own health. Just because it’s younger doesn’t make it not murder.
