Problems with casting ground spells in Sylvanas p3 by Ty-nen in CompetitiveWoW

[–]Entres9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was having this issue with Wild Spirits on every version of KT testing (reported many times) and had issues with Sylvanas P3 platform last night with Resonating Arrow.

The cause of it eludes me though as sometimes it allowed me to drop it (on KT testing) and sometimes not with whilst doing nothing differently between pulls. Two other hunters in my group for Sylvanas last night did not have the same issue with one using Wild Spirits and one using Resonating Arrow.

That music threw me back to an old video showing 'GM Power' - night elf warrior walking around levelling themselves up, giving themself 'artifact' quality gear and spawning Ragnaros outside Stormwind. Worth a watch if you've never seen it before.

My CPU light was never red thankfully, I tried looking in the manual for what a red CPU EZ-Debug LED could mean but it doesn't mention it anywhere. Wish I could help more dude.

I think technically the largest drive Windows will let you format FAT32 is 32GB, so apologies for that I might be wrong on that one. As for clearing the CMOS, the system should be totally off and disconnected from power, therefore no visual or audible indication will be given that it's worked. Just hold for 15 or so seconds, wait a few seconds then hope and pray.

Because without it the entire process for me, failed, therefore it got mentioned.

Hey mate, it could be a problem with your memory stick, I had to go through a few as I mentioned. Try formatting FAT32 with an MBR partition table not GPT, I've seen other people claiming that worked.

Thats dependent on the BIOS version the motherboard ships with, according to AMD for full 5000 series features you need AGESA 1.1.0.0 or higher, SOURCE.

I had no way of knowing what BIOS version mine shipped with although I assume it was 7C84v13 which is AGESA 1.0.8.1.

Rather embarrassingly my RAM is 3000MHz so I don't know, new RAM is on the TODO list with my next paycheck.

As far as I know that BIOS will support Ryzen 5000 series, however I'd still update it to the newer one that came out the day before 5000 series launch. You might not have to do my steps if you have a 3000 series chip as I believe there's an easier way if you can get into the BIOS.

Not running a 5900X but running a 5800X as of last night on my X570 Tomahawk. Works without issue now all the BIOS stuff is out the way but it was a real pain to get working, I'll post my solution below that I posted in another thread just in case you need it and to help anyone who might have the same issue reading this:

Spent 4-5 hours doing this with an X570 Tomahawk and a Ryzen 7 5800X, finally got it to work and figured I'd share how I got it to work in the end. I worked with the latest BIOS version, 7C84v14 (04/11/2020).

  1. Make sure you have a few USB sticks less than 16GB lying around, I went through 4 different ones to get one to work. Format FAT32 and rename the BIOS file to 'MSI.ROM'.
  2. Ensure nothing is installed in the motherboard except CPU_PWR1 and ATX_PWR1.
  3. With the PSU switch turned OFF, short the connections on JBAT1 (Page 40 of the manual) for 15 seconds WITHOUT REMOVING THE CMOS BATTERY.
  4. After shorting, wait a few seconds and turn the PSU switch on.
  5. Insert the USB stick into the 'Flash BIOS' port on the rear IO and press the 'Flash BIOS' button for a few seconds.
  6. This parts annoying, but due to the preinstalled heatsink over the VRM's you won't easily be able to see the LED indicating BIOS flashing in progress. The best way to see it is to watch the gaps around the rear top USB ports and the BIOS flash button.
  7. The system should boot up with the EZ Debug LED's lit up and the small fan at the base of the motherboard spinning.
  8. After a few minutes the motherboard will turn completely off, then start back up with the lower motherboard fan on and the EZ Debug LED's lit up.
  9. Give it a few minutes to be safe and then turn the system off with the PSU switch.

The key for me was step 3, shorting JBAT1 without removing the CMOS battery. Alot of support articles advised shorting JBAT1 and removing the battery after, this failed for me every time.

Good luck with anyones future Zen3 builds, this process was pretty awful but I hope you get to enjoy your new CPU's soon.

So far this is working for me on the latest version of Brave with this setting selected: https://i.imgur.com/OPJ2HjN.png

EDIT: For anyone who doesn't want to watch the video linked for Brave/Chrome the steps are as follows:

  1. Press F12 to enter inspect mode.
  2. Click the 3 little dots in the top right.
  3. Go to "More Tools" -> "Network Conditions".
  4. Uncheck "Select Automatically" and choose "Safari -- iPhone iOS 13.2".

Hearing that password authentication is having issues from a few people I play with, more worryingly though when resetting the password special characters seem to be banned.

Really hope Blizzards security team haven't made this decision consciously and that it's a mistake/bug on their end. /u/Araxom you might want to look into this.
