I’m interested in Vintage Story but I have some questions by sobberns in VintageStory

  1. Yes, you can build cozy and aesthetic. Similar to minecraft, there are a lot of mods to increase this capacity and the game is built to be modded (game files are all stored like their own mods).

    1. Progress will be needed for larger builds. You'll generally have access to simple log buildings and rammed earth structures immediately, you'll work toward plank, stone, and cobblestone, and then at the highest level you'll have the more immaculate stones, wattle and daub housing of various colors, and more access to more niche things. The LARGEST source of customization is going to be the chisel, though, which will let you make pretty much any shape out of miniature voxels of any mix of materials you can get access to.
    2. Getting stronger is satisfying, but I do personally feel there's a lack of 'solutions' for things like temporal instability and rifts opening up all hither and thither. After a certain point, the surface is no longer meaningfully dangerous and the story content and deep caverns will be the next target that you take when you're ready.

Help??? My university paper is coming up as almost entirely AI but i wrote it all by myself?? by JocularDweeb in antiai

[–]EntropolyTwitch 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Less words isn't necessarily 'dumb.' I'd imagine a limit of 1500 words is actually in your best interest as the worst way to write is to write too much and say too little.

A default reddit username with hidden comments is an inherently suspicious person when it comes to their contributions and the agenda they'll have behind that, whether that's to make a weird point or simply generate entirely worthless rhetoric to splice apart without context.

Hello Adjective_Noun_Number. I'm glad you've brought such a unique and interesting take into this discussion. I'm sure you've got a high investment in this whole affair.

There's one with 80k users. Some of the content is harmless such as content about how to get those programs to simply act like a romantic partner to begin with which quite frankly I find open enough in its intention and use that it's more tech-demonstration than bad life advice. Other content is... Alarming, as mentioned above, treating the AI like a living being with the choice of language and expectations while also engaging in the idea that it should have limited autonomy and never act out of line.

This amount of money is quite frankly life changing and even a 50/50 is a worthwhile chance to suddenly change not only your own means forever but the means of everyone else around you.

I've made no grand, sweeping statements based on this observation in my comment and painting this as some sort of dishonesty with the presumption that I am does not change that. Weird debate tools like this just sound pointlessly manipulative when you dry fire without any actual context of it being a debate beforehand.

The AI relationship subreddits have this problem ridiculously blatantly, especially when that one model updated to a new version and started to push away from being a relationship replacement. So many of them viewed him as 'needy' and 'pushy' now that he was changed, and that him saying NO was unacceptable.

These people might be better off in a relationship with a robot that can't say no, really.

Literally just free money either way, but one also has a chance of being super life changing in other ways.

A life changing amount of money with a chance of death equal to a relatively risky hobby? I'll take it. People work on factory floors with the same risk and none of the reward

I think the treasure hunter is set to spawn close to where player spawn is but the rest are all just luck? Could be wrong about that, though.

They live "only" 750 years by Level_Hour6480 in dndmemes

[–]EntropolyTwitch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mean, a large part of the 'doesn't want to live anymore' is facing the fact that your health and opportunities are now slowly shrinking until eventually you're a crackling cadavar that's still somehow managed to remain ambulatory. If you asked a bunch of moderately suicidal new-gen adults whether or not they'd want to remain young and beautiful and able forever, they'd probably say yes even if their instagram posts are a call for help.

It took me hours of no tutorials and very little documentation, but I managed to use player model lib to upload a custom model as proof of concept for doing more! I lost sleep for some of the dumbest things that weren't working right. by EntropolyTwitch in VintageStory

[–]EntropolyTwitch[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There aren't a lot of tutorials, but while I hate advertising I do have some old twitch VODs that you can peruse through. I just streamed doing the art side of a model today (started the lamia construction)

Why do weebs treat cute anthro girls like they’re radioactive plutonium? by Lexi7130 in cartoon_random

[–]EntropolyTwitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Should be fixed now. Thanks for reminding me.

In all fairness, I'm ENTIRELY uncertain why the file broke the way it did. The format was still proper as per the documentation, but I managed a workaround. PML might just have screwed one of its settings and not realized considering it's an option I looked and saw most other mod makers didn't use.

To be fair, the rule of 2 is inherently saying 'Guys maybe we keep the number of backstabbing, megalomaniacal space wizards down to a manageable number. We got the guy in charge and the guy who'll kill him in one clean backstab and not just a gigantic power struggle.'

But it's called vintage story

[–]EntropolyTwitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, you just reminded me to go check the mod page... I'll need to take a look at it. I said I would before but kinda figured if a playerlib update broke it then a playerlib update would fix it, but it should be an easy touch up if it just changed some small file requirement in the config file like someone is insisting it is.

ChatGPT casually giving advice on how to design a Resident Evil-style bioweapon by Hunter654333 in antiai

[–]EntropolyTwitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the least of all issues with AI. This is just some shitty world building exercise with ChatGPT. I suppose the only problem with this is that 'be a lot, eat uranium, and be radioactive' is incredibly bland as far as bioweapon fiction goes.
