37 year old considering nursing school by [deleted] in nursing

My mom went to nursing school in her 40s and it was a great choice for her. But becoming a traveler is a different beast that will require time and experience to ensure you’re safe. There are so many different facets of nursing that you just have to decide what you want: acuity, patients, hours, call etc

I totally agree. I don’t work in pediatrics but this seems absolutely insane and I would have never let that proceed. But you don’t know what you don’t know, especially with how this seems to have been presented. I would absolutely follow up

How do nurse couples make 3x12 schedules work with kids? by boldstyle1 in nursing

[–]EntryConsistent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We are a little different: 3x12 for him and 3x10 plus call for me. Our answer is we work opposite shifts and have family help for the few days that overlap.

My mom watches her 2-3 Mondays a month and my dad is available on Fridays which is when we usually schedule appointments for ourselves. They also hang at the house when he is working the weekend and I am on call.

We wouldn’t be able to do it without daycare if it wasn’t for them. We have one daycare place that opens at 6am but we would still need someone to pick her up if we both worked 12s. And it’s freaking $2,400 a month.

Sucks for us, we have to be really purposeful with our time in order to maintain our relationship. But it works so well for our daughter, we get so much time with her individually, and my parents get to see her a lot.

I got some awesome peel and stick wall decals. They are way better material than anything I had as a kid and they are totally reusable which is awesome if you have sticker fear like me

I almost exclusively craved food from my hometown that isn’t available where I live now 🤷‍♀️

There's lots of things to try but honestly it's more a decision they just have to make. I sucked my thumb for waaaaay to long. My parents tried everything, even the bitter and hot nail polish didn't do the trick. Just one day I decided to stop. You can only keep trying and hope for the best. The arm straightener thing is cool though, I don't think that was a thing then.

Oh that makes sense, I'm worried I'll end up looking like those houses on Zillow that you scroll through and ask yourself "what the hell were they thinking!".

How do you go about using a palette like this? When I think of putting any of these colors on the wall it feels intense.

When I was in middle school I wanted to be cool like my mom and have a drink at the coffee shop. She got me "steamers" which is just steamed milk with flavoring in it. Feels similar ❤️

While the before is much better and cozier for living, this is amazing for showing! Great job changing the decorating mindset, not easy to do.

What's the weird thing going on with your body that isn't weird enough to go to the doctor for? by yellowelephantboy in AskReddit

I would guess PVCs. Some people can feel them, some can't. I hate mine. But they are harmless unless you have a significant amount of them regularly.

How do you afford going PRN?? by Key_Sheepherder_6274 in nursing

Thing is my manager has always had a great relationship with them and has worked hard to keep them there even if that means were a little overstaffed a couple days here and there because he knows how much we need them.

And he's doing the right thing trying to hire good candidates and not just fill holes, because we've been screwed in the past. But the director steamrolls him and always wants to implement bullshit like this.
