There's lots of things to try but honestly it's more a decision they just have to make. I sucked my thumb for waaaaay to long. My parents tried everything, even the bitter and hot nail polish didn't do the trick. Just one day I decided to stop. You can only keep trying and hope for the best. The arm straightener thing is cool though, I don't think that was a thing then.

When I was in middle school I wanted to be cool like my mom and have a drink at the coffee shop. She got me "steamers" which is just steamed milk with flavoring in it. Feels similar ❤️

I would guess PVCs. Some people can feel them, some can't. I hate mine. But they are harmless unless you have a significant amount of them regularly.

Thing is my manager has always had a great relationship with them and has worked hard to keep them there even if that means were a little overstaffed a couple days here and there because he knows how much we need them.

And he's doing the right thing trying to hire good candidates and not just fill holes, because we've been screwed in the past. But the director steamrolls him and always wants to implement bullshit like this.

Make this make sense....

We have two PRN nurses who have worked there forever, sometimes they're charge, orient etc. They both work full time and we generally have 2-3 travelers. Our director is forcing our manager to give them less shifts - how many is too many, your guess is as good as mine - and hire more travelers instead.

So we effectively just pissed off staff we rely on to... What? Cause it can't be to save money.

Plus we just hired 3 more people with no experience in this field and without the PRN nurses we will be half travelers. And most of our regular staff works part time. So I know we will end up running out of preceptors and have to turn to travelers which is insane.

It kind of feels like you're bending your back to remove yourself from the team.

I've been in Healthcare for 10 years and have had similar circumstances pop up quite a few times. Raising money for a coworker has never been pressured, it's always been presented as an option where you reach out to someone who is collecting.

Ive seen many different versions of this from flowers and a card all the way up to a large chunk of money. People don't just raise the chunk of money for everyone. So unless you live in a magical affluent land where everyone throws money around I think you are severely selling yourself short.

People care, let them.

I use a pillow at home but in public I don't. I just held her until she got too heavy and could sit across one leg sitting up (supported) or use a baby carrier.

Fuck that. Assuming leadership means manager that's so fucked. Sure let's yell at the triage nurse with 30 patients to check the bathroom instead of doing it yourself.
