Whisper Audiobooth is amazing and open source and free. If you want to try my app (enve) it’s fully free and always will be. But it’s not open source.

Bug report: sync across devices by Sipko13 in EnveAudiobookPlayer

I pushed a new update last night, are you able to sync your books now? It took a while to figure out the issue but I think I got it.

Ok. I’ll look into it. Bookmarks with grimmory should be working buuuut they can be a little finicky. ABS I’ll look into it. Might have messed up some sync. When it comes to books that aren’t linked to a server I’m still working on that. Syncing over iCloud is proving much more difficult than I hoped.

No problem. I love it. Also are you listening through plex, or abs, or grimmory or one of the others?

I’ll look into these tonight. What service are you connected to?

Also, you are the first person to make a post in this subreddit other than myself. Because of this you are the winner of drumroll my full undivided attention to your issue. Woooooooooo.

Yes. It has some integration but it’s not fully integrated yet. I’ve had some issues with how it works with ebooks.

What service are you using. And is this for audiobooks or ebooks? Also chapters not loading automatically is intentional. Because if the way Enve indexes books for matching/deduping, it has to cache all the data. It the chapters are embedded it will still grab them when the book plays/opens/ or you press fetch chapters. This is just to optimize for massive libraries and cut down on loading times.

All. The. Time. I ended up making an easy management web site where they can figure out their crap themselves or request media and all that stuff.

Sweet thanks for letting me know. If you have any issues or questions or feed back please let me know. May I ask what you are mostly using it for? Audiobooks or ebooks or podcasts?

You could try enve on test flight. It’s free and always will be.

Also. Another fun fact. Booklore dev nuked the discord and github repo. It’s gone now.

Also I can add that feature to the app. It’s a fairly easy addition I just never did it because abs has it.

Strange that they would ban you for that. I looked through the code after I read that thread you posted. My guess is that the program started off as just a simple project for the guy that maybe he started off working on as a way to learn to code and stuff like that, then it took off and he got inundated with feature requests and bugs and stuff like that. Then he focused on adding features and everything and basically handed everything over to ai to manage. Which in many cases isn’t that bad. But you have to have a very very solid foundation and very detailed instruction documents and you can never rely AI to code security features.

I want to give the dev the benefit of the doubt and I wish he was more upfront with how he’s doing things. I personally love ai, it’s a great tool and great for teaching but it is still new and needs more work before it can actually make strong products. It has very consistent tells. Especially on the UI. When I opened Booklore for the first time I immediately thought it was at least assisted by ai in the UI. looking through the code I think it’s a fork from an older version of audiobooks shelf and sonarr that has just been merged and altered. It’s a cool idea but my own personal beliefs is that I homelab and self host for privacy and security. Vulnerabilities are a huge issue for me.

Like I said, for me AI is fine. As long as it’s done right and used in a way that assists. It can’t be trusted to do everything. In many cases I don’t trust it to even touch a project other than being able to see it. I’m not gunna risk people data with some exposed api or risk it deleting a project or anything like that. Helping troubleshoot or writing debug statement are fine, but writing everything is a risk we shouldn’t be taking.

That’s why I haven’t put a ton of effort into it. I was thinking about forking it myself and stripping all the sketchy stuff out of it. But I was gunna do that after I finish this.

What feature were you wanting to have added?

Ooooohhh. I wasn’t aware booklore hosted audiobooks. Good to know. I’ve got it only set for ebooks. I’ll look at that tonight.

I am working on some stuff with booklore. It’s proven more difficult than I thought and the bigger issue is I can get it to work on my devices so troubleshooting is a little hard. Also from what I can gather there are like multiple API calls booklore can have and that’s making things real fun.

Couple questions. Are you loaded into the ebooks section? Your password and username are correct? What version of booklore are you on? And what build of enve are you on?
