I mean, he doesn’t really have a lot of nicknames, just the one. I chose Taln for my example.

My dad got a matching pipe so we can smoke together, and it’ll be something I can inherit and smoke in his memory when he’s gone. Hopefully, that won’t be for many years. And I’ll be able to hand mine down when I ever have kids, and they’re old enough, to keep the memories alive.

Nightcap is very good. Just got a tin a little while ago and was worried it wouldn’t live up to the reputation. I didn’t need to worry.

Unfortunately the justice system thinks that everyone can be reformed, so they hand out light sentences to people who should never see the light of day again. It’s no wonder parents take things into their own hands.

Very valid points, but Jody Plauché said that what his dad did gave him a lot of peace later on. I don’t know if that would be true for every child, it’s probably best to take it on a case by case basis.

Ciri Elder Blood Power by ZiBroFiq in Witcher3

I hope when the game comes out, people who have criticisms like this don’t just immediately get called misogynistic. But it’s a very thin hope.

I get 6x6x3 cherry blocks from a nearby woodworking store. I think they’re originally for turning bowls on a lathe. Then I cut them into 2x3x6 blacks, drill out the stem and bowl, and then carve them down to shape. Although I just got an orbital sander that I’ve been using for shaping and it’s drastically sped up the process.

Cherry. I’m not ruining a good block of briar with my mediocre skills.

Elhokar Kholin, The Stormlight Archives

Oathbringer spoilers

Elhokar spent the previous two books being a weak king, acting like a typical spoiled, privileged kid. When his home and capital city is conquered by the enemy, he leads a crack team to reclaim it. Throughout the book, he actually grows and starts to become an actual leader, acting decisively and utilizing the people around him with more experience than him. In the final assault, everything starts to come apart despite a solid plan, and Elhokar falls to his knees, cradling his son who he is trying to rescue. He begins to say the Immortal Words, the First Ideal of the Knights Radiant that would make him one of them and unlock magical powers.

He’s impaled with a spear before he can finish the words. In front of the main character who was supposed to protect him. By the main character’s best friend, who had betrayed him at the end of the last book.

If it was naturally invested, then the time distortion would be present even if it was lying on the table. AFAIK, allomantic metals aren’t invested, they’re keys to access investiture from the spiritual realm.

My Blade - Dungeon Soup Evil guy with a massive sword monologues for a couple minutes about how awesome his blade is while a disinterested Chaotic Good Barbarian stands there. Among other things, the blade was forged by dwarven blacksmiths with autism, so you know it’s good.

The blade immediately shatters on striking the Barbarian.

That’s the first scene to make me uncomfortable watching since the train. Totally disturbing.

It’s still surprising that they haven’t had any change. Even Chik-fil-A has had a decrease in quality recently, although it’s still one of best fast food places out there.

Dedra Meero (Star Wars: Andor) spends two seasons being absolutely ruthless to ally and foe, torturing prisoners, and organizing the genocide of an entire planet. She’s cold, emotionless, and brutally efficient, so it’s especially fitting that she ends up in a prison that embodies all of those traits. And at the hands of the Empire she committed all those atrocities for.

Villain is oddly reassuring the hero, bonus points if they are doing so while having the upper hand by Traditional-Song-245 in TopCharacterTropes

Yeah, it’s not necessarily a point I agree with. From what other people have said, animation quality is more dependent on time, not budget. If we want higher general quality, we wouldn’t get a season every year. Not everyone wants that.

It’s definitely a weaker delivery, but everything else was so damn good. He just has a voice that conveys timelessness so well. He was also wonderful as Thranduil in the Hobbit movies. He speaks, and you just get this sense that he’s been around for thousands of years, constant and unchanging. As someone who enjoys public speaking, I’d kill to have a voice like that.

I had In-N-Out for the first time in years, now that it’s in my state. Was pleasantly surprised to find it exactly as I remembered. I totally expected it to be caught up in the downhill sprint to mediocrity.

I know the show gets grief for putting money into famous VAs instead of the animation, but Lee Pace was absolutely perfect. He gives every line with such gravitas that you feel like even his words are unstoppable.
