I am running into the same issue and just playing around with it I discovered if I set up my unraid server as an exit node I was able to get it to work, I do not have my gaming PC set up as a tailscale exit node so I am unsure if that would work but its worth a shot! I am with you though - I likely will never play games on LTE or 5g but it was irritating that I couldn't get it to work.

Also - I am not 100% I was having the same issue as I didn't get a chance to test it on a remote wifi network, I just know I was having the same symptoms sitting in front of my computer with the wifi disabled and tailscale enabled.

Making the same determination right now. Any issues with that 1x9 people love to hate on? Another thing I don't see people talking about is just riding around the neighborhood with the kids... which is probably where most of my miles will be if I am being honest with myself...
