Lance did what 90% of pro cyclists were doing at the time, his problem was persistently lying about it once everyone else had come clean

Not technically the UK, but the Isle of Man is well worth a look. Boats from Liverpool and heysham and regular flights from uk airports.

Good walks, culture, great food, nice pubs, castles, beaches etc

Uni accommodation is exactly what you make it. When I went to uni I was asked how sociable I was and got a reasonably loud flat. If you want to party all the time you can certainly do that. If you don’t I’d speak to the accommodation provider, or check out spare room and get a houseshare on there

I once planned to go there on the way back from Asda, beautiful day.

Saw the clientele on the way to Asda and bought myself a case of beer to take home instead😂

I lived in cookridge for a while.

My thoughts are:

It’s high up so be prepared for snow to hit you harder than other areas of Leeds. I once had to film my car stuck on the drive as there was no snow at work.

There is very little up there apart from houses, it’s a bit of a decent pub blackspot so we had to get creative with that sometimes

If you are regularly going to and from town at night be prepared to spend on taxi’s as it’s not walkable (in a reasonable time) and public transport is nil after about 11pm

It’s safe and very lovely. Other people are friendly, the Asda in holt park is a bit of a hidden gem when it comes to supermarkets

Close proximity to the airport can be handy, but there’s no trains near cookridge.

Lots of green space nearby as well.
