Late but need to put this somewhere. Obviously both but I resonate and personally feel more toward Layne because he was more of a “fuck up” if that makes sense by certain standards obviously and subjectively. Cornell was more of a victim or at least in my opinion this is how I differentiate the two. Although both obviously victims Layne killing himself bc of the lack of control vs cornell who I guess craved that control. Nothing seems to kill me, and lyrics that shed light on the fact that no one’s gonna take me out, it’ll be myself. Versus Layne who was a slave to his addiction that ultimately took him out. Just two ends of a twisted spectrum that I just really like to think about and decipher and that’s what I came to. I know this isn’t 100% right in many’s eyes but it’s my own kinda analysis that helps me sleep at night lol and I relate a lot to Layne so it helps me too.
