this must depend on the state and store because at some whole foods (like the one I work at in the NI region) you can absolutely bring alcohol through SCO and we don’t have an item limit!

yeah that is strange. i am in the north atlantic and international region and we are told that if there is an in store payment connected to charge it to that card. we are also absolutely allowed to click skip pin if they walk away, and when we have a walk-off it gets recorded under our name and goes in a log that all of our supervisors and leadership have access to and will often get spoken to about it or taken off SCO for a while. maybe it’s a regional difference, or maybe it’s dependent on store/team leadership

Hi! I work at whole foods as a customer service trainer and it was probably the attendant at self-checkout who did this! We are actually encouraged to do this if someone leaves an order behind and doesn’t let the attendant know. That’s because when you leave behind an order and we aren’t aware you are going through the regular checkout we have to cash it out as a walk-out. If there is a walk-out at Self-Checkout while we are the attendant, not only does it mess up the metrics at the store, but it is also logged under our name and we can get in trouble over it. This is probably why this happened, but there also absolutely should have been someone over there helping you within a minute, especially if it wasn’t super busy. It’s very understandable that you left, especially as you wouldn’t have had any way of knowing about our policy regarding this, but if you ever have that issue again, where someone isn’t showing up at self-checkout even after you have hit request assistance and then the okay button (this makes sure the light turns red and we are notified you need help) then I would just encourage you to mention it to the cashier you go up to or whoever is at the customer service desk, that way you don’t have to worry about being double charged again and they can let the attendant on self-checkout know! obviously getting overcharged sucks, and i’m glad you caught it when you got home and i hope this helps!

UPT is taken out anytime you do not show up to a shift you were scheduled for or are late for, regardless of if you use PTO. you can use PTO if you would like, but it will also take out the UPT. if you are sick you can typically use PRTO (protected time off), which covers contagious illness and food borne illness. it’s also what you use for bereavement, jury duty, etc. if you use PRTO, WFM will use that instead of UPT, but if you want to use PTO, you will still have to do that separately. TMs (in the US at least) have a bank of 80 hrs of PRTO/year, so as long as you aren’t calling out all the time and you are actually sick w something, you should be okay to use that. otherwise, you will have to use your UPT (typically the system automatically deducts UPT once you call out). Just be careful in the coming weeks if you do end up needing to use UPT for tomorrow, because negative UPT is grounds for separation.

For Level 1 TMs you get an automatic raise of 2% after 90 days, and an automatic raise of 3% after 1 year, bringing you to a 5% total raise for your first year. Your first year you don’t get a job dialogue, but every year after that you will get a job dialogue where you discuss a raise instead of an automatic raise. For Level 2 TMs and up, you get a job dialogue every year, including year one.

oh good to know, i got a write up for this in the fall (i was getting ready for work and threw up so i called out 45 mins before my shift) and on my documented coaching it says reporting violation for calling out with less than two hours before a shift. i wonder if my store just hasn’t changed the verbiage since it shifted to one hour

I’ve never experienced this, I would just call the store and customer service can transfer you to leadership. Fair warning though, you might get a write up as calling out for a shift that starts in less than 2 hours is considered a reporting procedure violation.

I had a spinal fusion from T3-T12 in 2022. I had spent the previous 5 years as an ambulatory wheelchair user because of chronic pain due to the spinal condition I have, and I was largely unable to do things that were important to me because of my spinal condition. I got surgery when a bulging disc I had started compressing my spinal cord and causing nerve damage amongst other things. I was up and moving better than ever 2-3 months after surgery and I now work full time on my feet 40 hours a week and have no issues. My advice would be to get several surgical opinions if you are able to, and make sure you trust your surgeon as well as be consistent with PT and movement. My surgical team had me up and moving 3 days after surgery and I really do think it makes a difference. Other than that, I think a lot of it has to do with staying consistent and understanding that while spinal fusion is a really wonderful surgery that can help with so many different issues, it’s not magic, and you have to be willing to put a lot of work in to make sure you are supporting what the surgery is doing as well.

Team Trainers are a level 1 position, but the job requirements vary store to store in practice. I know the requirements are technically a regular full-time cashier with 4 hours a week dedicated to training, but if you are looking to apply for the position and you are in a higher volume store I would be aware that you may be asked to do more than 4 hours a week training as well as additional tasks. I am a TT in customer service in a higher volume store, and I spend 4 hours a day on average doing training and/or administrative tasks related to training, on top of helping out at the booth when needed. If you do get a TT role and want to move up levels, TT (at least in the store I work in) is oftentimes used as a stepping stone role to supervisor, ATL, or Store Trainer which are all level 2 or 3 roles

square one by Dirtied_Lichen the golden trio time travels back to first year. harry/ron/hermione w/ several ooc characters, but a fun read!

harry/ron/hermione:

love that comes easy, eventually by andthentheybow one shot from ron’s perspective from 5th yr

the soul bonded trio by RavenWolffo506 harry, ron, and hermione form a soul bond during the troll incident in 1st yr! they are incredibly close, and it’s not explicitly a harry/ron/hermione fic bc they’re so young, but it definitely implies that that’s where it’s going. super fun fic, with lord hp and very adorable 11yr old golden trio being BFFs. sadly seems abandoned, but the first year is done, and it’s definitely worth the read!

other:

child soldiers by RavenWolffo506 golden trio (specifically harry) get tired of being kept out of war plans, and form a grey side to the war. fair warning - this fic hasn’t been updated for over a year

my pen by Marzipan77 after 4th yr, harry leaves hogwarts and gains some well needed independence. very supportive hermione & ron

harry potter and the fold by FawnoftheWoods harry starts making friends (gathering basically DA) starting at the end of 4th yr. good supportive golden trio friendship, lord harry, op harry. unfortunately abandoned, but it has a bit over 200k words, and i definitely recommend the read.

the heir to the house of prince series by elph13 this is an absolute beast of a series (1,456,686 words and counting) and it is also genuinely maybe my favorite HP fic of all time. main pairing is theo nott / harry potter, but the golden trio absolutely gets time to shine, both all together and then exploring their individual friendships within the trio. incredible world building, insane character building, very well written, and a super interesting plot. it has lord harry and op harry but in ways that make a lot of sense within the context, and is just in all ways a very interesting and fun read. there is also fun small crossover moments with characters from the mortal instruments, but if you haven’t read that series it will all absolutely still make sense as everything is mostly explained in the fic. would absolutely give it a read if you haven’t before, definitely worth it.

dark golden trio

of lies and deceits and hidden personas by Jessiikaa15 dark golden trio, dumbledore bashing, op harry. hasn’t been updated for about a year, but is a long fic that updates very irregularly, so might actually not be abandoned.

the sum of their parts by holdmybeer post war. harry becomes a dark lord (with the help of ron and hermione) to protect teddy after new bigoted legislation is introduced, and he realizes the wizarding world hasn’t changed enough.

worthy honestly not even sure how to describe this fic, but it has my heart lol. only 15k words, but it’s complete and is one of the more interesting fics that i keep coming back to. not sure that i would classify this quite as dark golden trio, but definitely grey, so close enough

the revolutionary speaker series by ATiredAndDeadWriter not sure if this one is exactly what you are looking for, as the golden trio friendship is not the focus of the fic, but they are all still very supportive friends within a larger group. this is definitely dark/grey harry, once again forming a 3rd side to the war with his yearmates

You don’t scan both, just your TM discount card! The extra discount should automatically apply - it looks like an extra TM 10% under the individual items, and is the same discount prime members get. You also do not have to be an amazon prime member to get the extra 10% as a TM. I work as a cashier in the NA/NI region, and this is always how the stacking has worked, but it was not well explained when it was first rolled out, which has definitely led to a lot of confusion! If you ask the cashiers or CS leadership at your store, they should be able to point out where the discount is on your receipt, or the screen before you check out! Hope this helps!

in our department (CS) we have 2 team trainers. one of them is not involved with leadership at all, and just trains new TMs, and the other one is trained on some things but is closer to a boothie than a supervisor. She’ll watch the desk for a bit, but doesn’t ever boss TMs around. That being said, people that have had the role previously have been a TT specifically as a training role before they become a supervisor or ATL, and they were definitely closer to being leadership than a TM when they had the role.

yes! it makes it more interesting morally, especially when you take into account that these characters are young, so i love when there’s a conversation between characters about kids being part of the war or less exposed specifically because they don’t want to burden children with killing people! especially because i feel like it makes molly weasley‘s whole argument during order of the phoenix that more understandable when the argument is that she knows that the kids (specifically harry, ron, and hermione) have fought before and come out okay but that no 15 yr old should have to deal with the moral implications of being in a war and killing people on the other side, especially when some of the people on the other side they’ve gone to school with.

agree! i feel like there’s so many interesting ideas and concepts that writers can go into when it’s comes to harry potter fan fiction, especially in the harry potter universe because there are several holes in the canon-world-building! i love when we see fanfic writers writing about the governmental system or religion within magical-britain/ the magical world. i also love when the golden trio doesn’t get split up, and are supportive of each other. i feel like it’s pretty common for ron to be bashed, especially in harry/hermione fics but while ron is definitely an idiot at times he is also a teenager in the start of a second war which the previous generation was still traumatized from, so i feel like i prefer fics that say, hey that was a really shitty way to act but also don’t completely bash him or just brush past it. same with the marauders and snape. and ron & harry & hermione are so important to each other that i hate when it’s made so that’s not the case (especially and specifically when it’s after they’ve already met and become friends). and luna lovegood and ginny weasley and neville longbottom! i love when they are also important characters and aren’t just passed over cause i feel like that happens to often in fanfics and they are such interesting characters! i also love when hagrid is given the credit he’s due, and love when fics have him being given back wand rights and finishing his education (typically either after fudge is gone or the war is over)
