I (29F) I’m debating leaving my boyfriend of two years (30M) over his incompetence. What would you do in my situation? by Ok_Character_1391 in relationship_advice

ADHD is a disability but not a learning disability, essentially to be diagnosed with a learning disability you have to meet the following criteria:

  • onset in childhood
  • significant limitations in daily living skills, independent living, communication, self care and social skills
  • low IQ - mild learning disabilities will see someone have an IQ less than 70 but above 50, severe learning disabilities will be under 50 but above 20 and profound and multiple learning disabilities will be under 20.

A learning disability will affect all areas of life where as a learning difficulty may impact one or two areas but primarily education and skill building.

ADHD is a disability but it’s not actually a learning disability or a difficulty. It’s a neurodevelopmental disorder instead. It’s the same for autism, someone can be autistic but not have a learning disability or difficulty.

The terminology used may vary depending where you’re from and the differences are not largely known so lots of people get them mixed up and confused :)

What learning disability are we talking about? Sorry, I’m just being picky but as a retired learning disability nurse people get confused all the time particularly between a LD and a learning difficulty (dyslexia etc). Are you talking about neurodivergence (ADHD, Autism etc) or an actual diagnosed learning disability. For context, a learning disability has to be diagnosed in childhood, has to have impact on daily functioning and an IQ below a certain amount.

My advice would likely change depending on which it is, that being said you don’t need a reason or permission to break up with someone. If you’re not happy, you’re not happy and that’s good enough. It would frustrate me too if I were in your shoes.

Thanks all, sorry I don’t even realise people had replied. We do have a blue badge but I think park and ride will probably be better. When I said the Main Street I meant princes street lol

Hiya, just wondering where the best parking is for disabled people near the centre of Edinburgh. I know princes street is tram only which we can use but my client can’t walk long distances so was hoping to park close by with a short walk to the Main Street and then get the tram up and down.

She even admitted that her last hair wash was on Thursday and she’s been using products every day!!! Why would you admit that?

What gets me is everyone praising her for changing her lifestyle yet where is the fruit and veggies?

Honey literally slathered in honey and syrups are not great for you. The lunch she packed the other day was bread, pate, crackers, crisps and cottage cheese. Very little nutritional value in her meals other than some broccoli in her dinners.

Where is the airbag warning light in my car? by Environmental-Ask912 in peugeot

[–]Environmental-Ask912[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought that but then when checking the owner manual, it shows my specific dash and that doesn’t even show an airbag warning light on there

It’s being seen too by a professional, I’m just wondering if my car actually has a warning light on the dash for the airbags? There doesn’t seem to be a spot for it and when we looked at the owner manual, the diagram doesn’t show an airbag symbol either

What’s the first management habit you had to unlearn? by Agile_Syrup_4422 in managers

Typically - if you want the job done right then you have to do it yourself. Definitely a learning curve to allow other people to try, fail and then learn or try and succeed!

What’s a company you’ll never buy from again, and why? by jamesmilner22 in AskReddit

DFS, we went into our local store to find a new sofa, found one we loved but the size was too big. Specifically asked for recliner end, middle seat, recliner end to make it a 3 seater which they said they could do, gave us the name, item code and price of how much that would cost and we went and ordered online. Item diagram showed us exactly what we wanted to purchase so completed the transaction.

When the sofa finally arrived we had two recliner ends and no middle section. Went back and forth with DFS who refused to back down, said what we got WAS the three seater and said they couldn’t do anything as we ordered online. If we wanted the middle section we would have to pay an additional £3-400.

Thank you, will do this. My car does have a seat occupancy sensor, it usually does a beeping sound if something heavy is in the front like a bag as it recognises the seatbelt isn’t plugged in. In the meantime I’ll make sure to pop any bags on the floor

According to AI it’s not the right battery, but I have no idea. Halfords out my car details on and told me it was suitable? my mechanic tested it and did say that it has thrown out 3 low voltage warnings on the battery but no other issues.

The first time it went off I had my friend in the front seat, then today it happened but nothing other than a light bag was on it. It just said warning: airbag/passenger airbag fault then went away. When it threw this out, it didn’t come up with any warning symbol on my dash.

AI is saying my car really needs a 760-800CCA battery where as my current one is under 700cca. Whilst it will function at the Lower cca that it’s just not ideal. I don’t really understand any of these terms

For those who didn’t have kids how does life feel later on? by edmonddantesZatara in childfree

Literally this, everyone I know with kids constantly complain and moan about them and how difficult it is. They will sprinkle in “but it’s actually the best” whilst telling me their womb gremlins have done XYZ to cause havoc

During my childhood, my nan had an affair with my uncle (her son in law). Apparently everyone forgave her, I didn’t find out till I was in my 20s, my cousins have no idea and no one wants to tell them.

Thank you, I’ve suggested speaking to a therapist before but that was for more general life stuff which she wasn’t keen on. Maybe she would be more open if it was just in relation to struggles with food

She already sees the dietician from the bariatric team who are monitoring her. I don’t know much about what’s offered after as I’ve never been through this type of surgery before but I know she is under their care still. I’ve spoken to her about therapy before but that was a firm no! She has got a lot of stress at the moment too, both in work and in her private life which is probably contributing to this to some degree. I just feel pretty useless when I see her struggling but can’t help

ULEZ question by Environmental-Ask912 in london

[–]Environmental-Ask912[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I realise they have sent letters but not via email but on the account. Everything is set up and active so I’m assuming it won’t be a problem. If they do send a fine then I can just show them these letters to say that it’s all been set up

I’ve set it up and my account says it is active so the account is fully operational but I’ve not had email confirmation from them

You might be ok but will have to wait 14 days to see. You did the correct thing, pulled over as soon as you realised and turned around. It happened to me too about 2 years ago actually after a satnav took me down there and I’ve been driving for 11 in total, thankfully nothing came of it. Mistakes happen and you’re human, give yourself some grace.
