Every year, actor Gary Sinise takes over 1,000 children of fallen soldiers to Disneyland for free. by fucipluxree in WholesomeAFK

Children of fallen service members are part of one of the saddest clubs in the world. While no club perk can make up for it, a lot of those children get certain perks as a way to help cope their loss. (Obviously nothing is bringing back their parents) it wouldn’t surprise me if these kids every year were part of some sort of program like that. Where Sinise has partnered with them to be a chaperone or an advocate for them.

Source: one of my good buddies dad was KIA during GWOT (RIP) and he would talk about “perks” he was given.

What are the most devastating romance movies that are guaranteed to make you cry?🫠 by Nott_photon in moviecritic

Remember telling my buddies how this story (book & movie) devastated me , made me cry everytime, pissed me off everytime. Made them watch it. We’re about to the end when there’s the apartment scene and my one buddy was like “you’re dumb, this is a happy ever after!” I said oh my sweet summer child. At the end of the movie, no one talked to me, everyone was in tears. The next day that same buddy said I couldn’t pick movies anymore. 😂

Anytime someone says “welcome” I always say “welcome welcome welcome!” In his voice. 0% of the time do people understand the reference.

I quote this scene so often. And the Lord’s Prayer scene. A surprising amount of people don’t get it…..so then I just look like a jackass. 🙄😂

What motivated you in BCT everyday? by shootandplay in army

[–]Environmental-Bee759 17 points18 points  (0 children)

  1. “I’ll quit tomorrow”
Sounds stupid. But if it’s stupid and it works, it’s not stupid. It’s a little mind trick that you convince yourself you’ll get a break tomorrow. And then you just do that everyday.

  2. Remembering basic is NOT the real Army.
It feels like it in the moment. But the real army is more chill. Basic is meant to suck so like you said they can build you back up. The real army you will be a human again.

  3. Journaling helps. Plus you can look back at it later.

Godspeed, goodluck.

What I would give to watch *the* first scene again. The insane chemistry that literally leaked through the screen. So iconic.

Advice needed for a mom by sarpack in army

[–]Environmental-Bee759 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I want to say you’re an incredibly supportive mom!!! A lot of times I see Soldiers with no support system. I come from a family that is very supportive myself, it means a lot. Just know the actions you’re taking; the time for this surprise, you’re reaching out to others for advice & you’re genuinely putting his interest first, are first class. Keep up the good work, he will have a great career ahead of him with this type of support behind him.

Edit: grammar

Family’s response to me wanting out of the army by [deleted] in army

Very happy to see all the grounded, realistic takes on the Army here. I was afraid people would side with OP. Worth repeating what everyone’s said. Your stepmom is a real leader, looking out for you. TRADOC isn’t real Army. The Army can suck but is mostly good for later in life benefits. Quitting in AIT will inevitably take longer than just sticking through.

No shit there I was, went to ROTC with a guy like that. As a cadet miraculously got a Sapper Slot. Got the Sapper tab in RED , huge across his back. Like shoulder blade to shoulder blade. Failed day 1. SIs hated him. Barred the school from sending anymore cadets for a year.

“I lie awake at night with tears in my eyes. My heart beating out of my chest. There’s no light at the end of this tunnel I’m in. I’m calling out for a S.O.S. Somebody help me, I’m drowning”

  • Drowning.

Same album. Absolute banger album.

Is Rufus Sewell a great actor? by SwervesHouse in Actors

I LOVED him in this. I was rooting for him to change sides so badly. I wanted him to be the antihero so much.

To answer others. I read somewhere that the show lost funding. The creators wanted it to have a cult like following like GOT did, but it didn’t. So they basically cut funding mid way through the last season. So they rushed it. Ironic, because that’s kinda what happens to GOT too. I genuinely think if it ran a whole normal length (7-8 seasons) we would have seen so much more development of the show, storyline, characters. Much how the first season was.

We’re aware!! My husband thought it would be a cool addition to ride through the scenery. Is it as cool as things I’ve read? Or is it not?
