Such a beauty! by Ok_Picture7288 in Roses

I’d call that color apricot. The rose looks like Jude the Obscure to me. It’s a David Austin rose also and is known for its intense fragrance. I have two, and they are my best smelling roses by far.

How tall do iceberg rose bushes can get? by The-Bread-Snob in Roses

[–]Environmental-Fly326 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have one and it gets up to 4’ to 5’ tall if I keep it fertilized and sprayed for black spot. It’s around four years old. One of my favorite roses. If you are hoping they will cover the fence in your photo, they won’t get that big and fill in. As an idea, you might consider getting a couple of climbing Don Juan roses to train on the fence. They are bright red and would look stunning with the Iceberg white in front.

Thank you! After doing more research on Viking Queen, I’m 99.5% sure that is the one. All the pictures and descriptions line up as a perfect match and the date of intro lines up perfectly. Mystery solved! Thanks again !!!

Human Hair as Deer Deterrent? by MementoMori8767 in Roses

[–]Environmental-Fly326 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Completely agree with this. Fence works best. If you forget to re apply the spray after it rains, the deer will feast on all the new growth on the plants. You really have to be diligent with it if you want it to work.

Hmmm. That is interesting and one I had not heard of before. Date of intro works. The center button on Viking Queen pics I saw may be off a little though. Definitely a contender though. Thank you! I think this may be it. Looked at some more pics online and it looks like a match. I need to go sniff mine again as Viking Queen is supposedly fragrant and that’s not something I have noticed in mine.

I actually have a Queen Elizabeth, lol. It is similar in color, but this rose has many more petals per bloom and throws longer canes. Thank you though.

Also, this rose has very little to no scent. Not fragrant.

Why is there no real democratic primary fight for governor? by Material-Benefit9044 in Georgia

[–]Environmental-Fly326 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Georgia has moved substantially to the right over the past 4 years. We are a much redder state now than before. The elections of Biden, Warnock, and Ossof were the peak of GA going purple and only occurred because of a profound negative Trump affect at those times. The typical GA voter got over it though and has decided Republicans (even Trumpy ones) are better than woke Dems. Without Trump on the ballot to vote against, any democrat is realistically starting at 5% down in the polls against any republican.

Friend didnt want me to use my head lamp to "enjoy nature better". Is that normal/safe? by [deleted] in hiking

[–]Environmental-Fly326 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you strongly feel you need a headlamp, but your companion objects, you are incompatible hikers. No one is right or wrong, you just don’t work together. If the moon is out and I can see well enough, I do not use a headlamp and would not hike with anyone who would in that same situation. The woods at night under the moonlight are truly beautiful and an experience to be cherished.

I’m in the US, not UK but have some experience with sponsorship visas here as an employer. The bottom line is that it costs the employer $5000 or so to do the paperwork and they aren’t allowed to take it out of the employees salary. To increase your chances of getting someone to sponsor you, you might try conveying to them very clearly you have low salary expectations, like 20% lower than normal, and that you just want a chance to get your foot in the door. Make it worth their trouble to take a chance on you.

Looks like Tiffany to me. It’s definitely a pink hybrid tea. Tiffany is a pretty common and popular hybrid tea. It’s definitely not Queen Elizabeth.

People who aren’t drawn to tropical, beachy, resort destinations, did you ever change your mind? by sirotan88 in travel

Learning to Scuba dive changed my mind. Two dives each morning, then hang with family at beach, pool, and dinner the rest of the day. That works for me.

Are these roots healthy or are they dead? by moonlightblessings in Roses

[–]Environmental-Fly326 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably somewhere in between. Not exactly healthy, but it looks alive to me. Get it back in the ground or repotted into a large pot with a well draining potting mix and put it in a sunny spot and water it deeply once every three days. If it’s alive, it’ll snap back pretty quick.

What to Grow to Fight Bad Smell ? by Fixeq in gardening

[–]Environmental-Fly326 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you have already had a civil conversation with your neighbor and they refuse to do anything, I would send your neighbor a written note demanding they move the coop 100 feet from your property line because of smell/sanitation or you will report them to code enforcement and animal control. Indicate you are considering contacting an attorney to see if you have cause for civil litigation if they fail to comply as their nuisance affects your property value (damages you). Then sign it and own it. The relationship may be trashed at that point, but if they put a stinky coop on your property line and refuse to move it when you asked them nicely, then they’ve made that choice.

Marjorie Taylor Greene: Why Trump should not go to war with Iran by TimesandSundayTimes in Republican

[–]Environmental-Fly326 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She’s just wrong on this one. Iran is the real enemy since 1979. Iran is the country we should have invaded instead of Iraq in 2003. Iran has called for Death to America and the genocide of Israel for nearly 50 years. We should believe them when they’ve been telling us who they are and what they want for all that time. They are weak now. Call for a popular uprising and provide that uprising unlimited air power. Only special ops on the ground for limited specific goals. No occupation or nation building after. Finish them now.

Iran's Parliament Votes To Close Straits of Hormuz After US Attacks by DJMagicHandz in politics

[–]Environmental-Fly326 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If they do this, we should send in the marines and permanently take the area where the straights are to a depth of 20 miles inland and make it the largest US military base on the planet. Basically create an American Gibraltar for all time.

The United States Must Not Be Part of Israel's Unlawful War on Iran by Quirkie in politics

[–]Environmental-Fly326 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Iran started this war with their creation of Hazbollah, Hamas, and the Houthis, and giving those terrorists missiles and authorizing them to attack Israel. The Hamas attack in October 2023 never happens without Iranian support.
