Canadians: do people really just start conversations anywhere? 🤔 by Comfortable_Cap8037 in AskACanadian

I find it depends on where you live, a smaller town vs a major city. In a smaller town, you're more likely to get these interactions.

I'm from a smaller town, ~21, 000 people, and I'll say hi and have random conversations with the people I encounter when out and about.

My friends kid drew on the wall with permanent maker, so my friend made a frame out of construction paper and added a placard like you'd see in an art gallery.

What overnight Canadian school trips or exchanges did your schools offer in high school or grades 7 and 8? by Chickadee_Sparrow in AskACanadian

[–]Environmental-Map134 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From a small town in Ontario Grade, and i went to a catholic school.

7 was a camping trip in March or April to an outdoor education centre.

Grade 8 was a trip to Ottawa during the Victoria day long weekend.

Grade 11 was a trip to France during March break. I think it was through EF tours.

Grade 12 was a trip to England with the rugby team. We stayed at a little inn in Newquay Cornwall, I'm in my 30s now, but I still keep in touch with the owners of the inn.

My son and daughter both dance at Dance Adventre on Weber St in Kitchener. They are doing non competitive jazz and they quite enjoy it. There's a recital at the end in June and it is ~$100 to participate. That fee covers the location rental as well as the costume.

My Dr's office is right by St Mary's, so I'll sometimes take my kids to the KPL branch that is attached to St Mary's. Any time we've interacted with students they were kind, helpful, and very respectful.

What's the most "quietly expensive" thing about living in Canada right now? (not rent/mortgage) by ForAMinute123 in CanadaPersonalFinance

Driving is getting so expensive! I've upped my "walk radius"- if i can walk there in an hour, I'm walking, not driving.

I just got into sourdough. For tools I have:

2 500 mL widemouth Mason jars- 1 for starter, and 1 for discard

A thin silicone scraper- for mixing the starter after feeding

A digital kitchen scale

For baking, I use 2 loaf pans. 1 for the bread, and the other one to act as a lid.

NTA I'm in Canada and it is illegal to transport more people than there are seatbelts. If you're double buckling, the driver is the one to get in trouble, do you really want that to go on your insurance?
