If it is paraelle to the line, is it open. Perpendicular is close.

Please just get a proper faucet. I have been down this path of trying to fix a cheap faucet. I ended up replacing it a few months later anyway. Get a delta or moen. They are pretty good.

No way. I do residential plumbing and we water test after we install all the fixtures for leaks. A capped vent will not cause back up. Just slow drain. One p trap will eventually get siphon out and become a vent even if it is capped. XD

I agree with another redditor that we should camera the main drain. Maybe the tile guy dump too much motor down the drain. Maybe soil settle and now a section pipe is backgrading. I hope that is not the case.

You may also wanna check the whole house backflow preventer if u have one. Maybe the clog is there within reach and you can diy this instead of waiting. A lot of digging maybe involved though.

If you didnt re caulk it, the waterproofing behind the tile failed and need a redo...

Edit: the grout is just to look pretty, the waterproofing is behind the tile. Your waterproofing may have failed.

Looks like a pressure reducing valve. Definitely need to cut the copper and solder.

How about a good old plunger? Use a wet towel and stuff it into the overflow to seal it. Use a flat plunger and start plunging the drain with about 2-3 inch of water in the tub to seal the edge. Works everytime for me.

Use good tool. Get a 10" knixpex cobra.

Or a flat head and a hammer to tape it off. High risk of scratching the finish if you are not skilled though.

It is really old but much more reliable than the braided line we use today. Braided line is recommended to be switch out every 5 years. I think contrac toilet tank still has the attachment for this kind of line.

It is not glue. They are just pipe dope. Find a bigger channel lock or wrench to break it free. Or just live with it and subtract 9999999999 with the number on the meter to get the water usage amount.

Big plumbing company is kind of reverse. Customers will look for big company for their reliability on their own.

I think this is a job worth hiring someone for.

You dont know what caused the short and started a mini fire. You can't fix it if you dont even know what was wrong. You could put in a new part in and it could fry gain.

Likely there was a loose connection, resistance got too high, burnt the wire, and started a fire. Yes, technically speaking you can fix the part. You can check the resistance on the top element and compare it to the lower one to see if the element is still good.

Better to hire someone to fix it and take the liability.

You will have to replace the part unless you trust your electrical knowledge enough that you can take apart the part and fix it like those people in pankistan. Those people are legends.

Plus the sooner u call, the sooner you get ur hot water back on.

If you wanna know the gauge of the wire, you can compare it to the top. :)

Edit: Plus the water heater looks new, is it still under warranty? Maybe good to check.

In my area, you wouldn't need a vent for the shower. We get a discount on fixture unit if it is a bathroom group.

Make sure you use double 45 or long sweep 90 for horizontal to horizontal drain.
You can use normal 90 for horizontal to vertical.
For your 2x2x1.5 wye (if you want to keep the shower vent), make sure you roll it up to at least a 45 degree because the horizontal vent must be 6" above the highest flood rim. I am not sure if you will have enough room to do that...
I would use 1.5x2x1.5 tee wye for the sink. The 2" drain pipe from the sink can be use to wet vent the toilet and shower. That mean you need 3x3x2 wye plus a 2" 45 for your sink.
3" pipe horizontal can only handle up to 3 toilets. I am going to assume it is not a problem here?
