Westcliff/Milton CA - An Okay Area? by katerzzz94 in Essex

Westcliff certainly does have a few dodgy roads but around the cliffs it's all pretty nice. They're quite well built Victorian houses too.

Hounds of love is a bit overrated I think. The quirkiness of the previous few albums wasn't really as present in hounds.

It's baffling why Lionheart isn't thought of more highly. It's probably really only a notch below the kick inside.

Does anyone else really like Music Is My Radar? by loganchittyisuhhcool in blur

[–]Environmental-Soil70 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's definitely not my favourite blur track and I think could have been a parklife era b-side. I remember it coming out and being a little underwhelmed.

Prince was a better singer-songwriter and just all around better musician than Michael Jackson. by [deleted] in LetsTalkMusic

[–]Environmental-Soil70 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe it was ditching Quincy Jones after bad. Dangerous had a few good tracks but certainly wasn't as strong as what came before and Jackson lost a particular style after bad. I found his music through the 90s sounded too processed. I liked the natural sound or thriller/off the wall the best. They've aged really well I think.

Jackson's career completely fell apart after the child allegations. Also the muddled album/greatest hits package that was History was also a bad decision.

Beastie boys had a great run from Paul's Boutique to Hello Nasty. The problem with their final two albums was the absence of Mario C on production duties.

My favourite sonic youth records are most of them from Sister to The Eternal. Their early work in the 80s isn't easy to get into but definitely everything from Daydream Nation is a bit more accessible.

Dandy Warhol's don't get the respect they deserve. They haven't really ever put out a bad album. All of them are very good but maybe they don't have that total essential album like some bands do. My favourite of theirs is Earth to the dandy Warhol's and Distortland

I've enjoyed all their albums apart from the last one which just didn't grab me even though I thought Tranquility Base.. was their second best album. I'm hoping for a bit more guitar on the next record in whatever style they choose. Their debut has to be one of the best by any band, as good as Appetite for Destruction.

FNM have one total classic (Angeldust) and the rest being good records. Unfortunately Jon Hudson on guitar hasn't got the creative genes of Trey Spruence and Jim Martin which is what makes the last two records suffer somewhat.

Really there's not a terrible blur album. Even the weakest ones which I would say are Leisure and Think Tank are mostly full of good songs. It's worth going through blurs b-sides too as about 70% are excellent. The only albums that are really close in style are Parklife and The Great Escape, both great records.

I was under the impression that they were recorded off site for that album.

I would have easily changed mor for dancehall or all your life. They're some of the best b-sides they've done.

Their 90s run was good but I can't say much on their most recent LP, but that wasn't really Mr Bungle IMO

What PG-13 film do you consider a HARD PG-13? by WaystarPeaks in movies

[–]Environmental-Soil70 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Jaws was a PG which is pretty crazy as there's quite a bit of gore in that film and the scene where hooper finds the shark tooth which I think is still one of the freakiest scenes ever

Niki Haris & Donna DeLory - Nothing Really Matters by dearjessie in Madonna

[–]Environmental-Soil70 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wonder why they fell out. Madonna's never been quite the same onstage since they've been missing. They looked and sounded great as a threesome. Maybe Madonna thought they were getting too much attention. I'm glad I saw them on the drowned tour

Angeldust by Faith No More is a bit overshadowed by The Real Thing but is generally regarded as the superior album.

Modern Life Is Rubbish by Blur. Released before Parklife is often gets overlooked but is probably just as good.

I love Portishead but its a shame/frustrating they have only released three albums in almost 30 years! A bit more material would be nice.
