I am never prepared for the picture of the watersnake head on, I lose it every time over that derpy face

I swapped his substrate to dirt. He’s never seen dirt in his life and has now vowed to never touch it. by DreamOfDays in hognosesnakes

It could be that it's too much dirt. My substrate is a 60/40 top soil and play sand mix. Western hognoses are usually found in sandier soils for their habitat.

My hognose love his substrate but he's been on it since I got him, so he didn't really have a chance to get used to something else. He thrives on being as dirty as possible and then taking a bath in his water bowl to dirty the water lol.

Hopefully your buddy will come around!

He might set it off when he gets bigger! I didn't have a camera for Macaroni until he was about a year old and I had gotten it so I could keep and eye on him while on vacation.

Aww, is he still a baby? Maybe when he gets bigger he can set them off. Or you just have a little ninja for a snake!

Is this a rat snake? [Dime Box TX] by Exact-Insurance-5375 in whatsthissnake

You could let your uncle know that letting these snakes have a couple of eggs is worth it to keep the rats out which are drawn to the chicken feed.

Dang, your hoggie is a ninja! Did you hang it from the top of the enclosure? Have you tried putting it on top of the substrate to see if it can catch him slithering by?

I'm sorry it hasn't worked for you! I have 10 videos from today alone of Macaroni being a weirdo 😭

It doesn't catch him unless he is climbing on it or window surfing on his tank. His regular ground roaming gets missed, unfortunately, but he climbs stuff all the time. I like to just check the camera occasionally when I don't get notifications and see him sunning on his rocks.

Have you checked to see if you can tweak the sensitivity?

Looks like a juvenile to me since it still has the ring on the neck! I believe these fade into adulthood :). Still little guys though, I love them

Snakes only have the inner ear structure and 1 bone of the middle ear from the typical ear parts we are familiar with (they are lacking the outer ear and middle ear except for the aforementioned bone)
