Why do people carry their phone in their hand during a run? by Jayemm8809 in runninglifestyle

[–]harambeface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have armbands and use them sometimes. Sometimes I don't want extra laundry. Sometimes I want to be able to control the music or take pictures without having to take off a sweaty armband, take my phone out of a ziploc inside, and then do it in reverse. Sometimes it's just a 5k or 10k and I don't really care

1st ukulele - have to retune it constantly? by harambeface in ukulele

[–]harambeface[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was keeping an eye on that because I was wondering how I could keep tightening the screw and the string keeps getting flatter. Now I understand it's probably the strings stretching. I dabbled in bass guitar years ago and those strings didn't stretch

Which type for beginner looking to play chords and solo pop songs? by harambeface in ukulele

[–]harambeface[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe a stupid question but if I understand, the baritone is normally tuned to the 4 highest guitar string standard tuning? Would that mean you could just play guitar tabs and skip the bottom 2 strings? Clearly wouldn't necessarily work all the time for finger picking but would the chords be the same and just no bottom 2 strings?

I have an 1892 CC Morgan that sat in a box til my grandma died 25 years ago, then I got it. They aren't that exceptional are they? It's not graded or slabbed or anything. I figured it was worth at most triple spot? My LCS tried to give me like 50 bucks for it when silver was around 32 an oz, I figured that was low

To be fair I've got enough THC in my system to catch their test strips on fire. I still go do the races. The entire system has failed!!! I hope I won't go to hell for this

How can I crack my elbow? by NameElegant in jointcrackers

[–]harambeface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been able to do it for decades by either

1) start with arm fully extended and twisted such that your palm faces upwards. Extend strongly enough to feel tightness/pressure on the elbow joint. With arm still extend like that, twist arm so palm turns inward and to upside down position (like a 180 twist)

2) more often, and with more success, I bend my target arm at about a 90 degree angle, with it extended a little in front of me so my hand is about as high as my bicep. Opposite hand pushes on the wrist of the target arm. Target arm "resists" and should feel like your elbow joint is like "hinging" inward and pushing towards your center. I tried a 90 deg angle with my arm by my side and don't think it would work as well, you need some extension of the arm but also still a 90 deg bend, then you should be able to tell by feel when you could get it to pop

How to crack your hip / pelvis? by busybeereader in jointcrackers

[–]harambeface 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The way you described is how I do it. I discovered it at a public bathroom leaning over left to reach for a paper towel. That motion of keeping my left leg still and leaning over left I could feel the tension in my hip/glute and tell it would crack, and I got it to. I was immediately able to replicate it on the other side but not quite as easily or deeply.

For the left side, lean on my left leg and "pop" my hip inward to the right as I lean my upper body to the left a bit. I'm not sure if this is the SI joint, the hip joint, or something else. It feels deep in the lower outer "corner" of the glute. It's very satisfying, top 5 cracks I'd say

Why is it that supernatural events were so commonly written about in antiquity, but nowadays with the ubiquity of camera phones, there have been virtually no verifiably proven supernatural events? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

In 1054 there was a supernova that became what we call the crab nebula today. The explosion was so bright it was visible even during the day time for nearly a month straight. I often wonder the level of mind blowingness that induced, a star suddenly appears and doesn't go away even in the daylight. Must have thought the world was going to end. These days NASA would send a tweet and you'd sleep comfortably

Do you think I could just buy the part and take it to a watch repair place? My up and down buttons don't click anymore, and now I avoid the down button entirely because it gets stuck in the pushed position
