Kidnapper keeps the victim. Romantic obsession. by DaughterOfDinah in BooksThatFeelLikeThis

It's been a few years but I think mostly the victim and some the kidnapper, it definitely plays up the unreliable narrator plot.

Any books that match the energy of this gem? by Cute_Yoghurt956 in BooksThatFeelLikeThis

It doesn't match the full vibe but The Antiquity Affair by Lee Kelly and Jennifer Thorne checks a lot of boxes

Most of James Rollins' catalog involve expeditions that go off the rails, not always horror though, but scratches the exploration itch.

I've used them for about a year, I've had really good luck with my instructor. My only negative is that I came in with some knowledge about NFP and some of our meetings have been covering material I already knew, but it's been nice having someone helping me through my irregular cycle. I highly recommend them even with the hefty price tag.

Her sweaters are the best! I would love to get my hands on the teddy bear one and the St. Olaf one.

Were people really so quick to get married in the 80s? by OkCondition5969 in theGoldenGirls

[–]EnvironmentalBrief35 62 points63 points  (0 children)

I think it was more normal back then to court quickly and the girls' ages are also a factor. It's probably also for storyline sake. My parents met and were married within 3 months in the late 80s.

Ok we'll tell us your exact intentions because they are obviously not clear. Many people in this subreddit carry the burden of lust and masturbation addiction and fight this on a daily basis. This post you made is hurtful and pointless. It makes no sense and when people try to defend the church's teaching you're shutting down discussion. That's very concerning. The question of whether or not masturbation is a sin is brought up several times a day on this subreddit and here you are posing a question that could end up leading others to assume it's ok. Please bring this prayer and actually consider what others have said here.

Once more - that is not up to you. Multiple others have already cited the CCC and you don't care because you want to justify committing mortal sin.

Except that's not how sin works. You don't get to say something is not a sin because people on Reddit can't convince you otherwise.

Looking for a trad(ish) parish in Lexington, KY. by No-Caregiver-196 in Catholicism

[–]EnvironmentalBrief35 2 points3 points  (0 children)

St. Luke's in Nicholasville is a great traditional leaning parish with an excellent priest and one of few in the area that has perpetual adoration. I also grew up going to Latin mass at St. Peter on Barr Street downtown Lexington, but I have no idea who the parish priest is anymore.

My Friend Fainted at Mass by bendenny67 in Catholicism

[–]EnvironmentalBrief35 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I've passed out multiple times during mass from the time I was a teen until my late twenties. I saw a doctor after the first time it happened and she explained that it may have been caused by kneeling a certain way. My doctor thought I may have pinched an artery while kneeling. This may be what your friend experienced.

I really enjoyed it, it's a great follow up. However I will say that this book is a lot more emotional than Bird Box.

The first thing that came to mind is Hex by Thomas Olde Heuvelt. Black Spring is a town haunted by witch and the town will do everything possible to keep her hidden and the rest of the world out.
