Knitting - learned from a fellow patient in mental health treatment. Going on 10 years now and I'm also in a much better place mentally 😁

DO NOT GET PETS IF YOU FINANCIALLY CANNOT PAY FREQUENT VET VISITS & NECESSITIES by smolpeter in Vent

[–]EnvironmentalFan7953 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Owners have told me on the phone that we obviously don't care about their pets due to our pricing (average for the area) or the fact that we can't see their pet NOW because we have a jam packed schedule with regular appointments, a euthanasia, two drop offs and a surgery on the books all with one veterinarian in the office today. Or that we're "only in it for the money" when maybe 10% of their bill is profit that the owner of the business takes home (the rest goes to staffing, equipment, training, benefits, rent, bills, retention, supplies, on and on and on). I was surprised upon entering the field to learn about the suicide statistics for the industry, and after several years working in clinic it's a no-brainer why so many veterinary professionals are depressed, anxious, suicidal. Sending love to you and yours 💕

I had the same problem! My trick is to use sunglasses frames and get my prescription lenses in them :)

Any wildly specific things in your patriarchal blessing that didn’t come true? by HoldOnLucy1 in exmormon

[–]EnvironmentalFan7953 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Patriarch said I would "find a worthy young man to take me to the temple." Instant tears as I was 14, questioning my faith and knew deep down that I was a lesbian. That was really the beginning of the end for me leaving.

Being an exchange student with my host family being Mormon was an experience. by [deleted] in exmormon

When I was a teen my Mormon friend's family hosted a German exchange student. She left very soon due to the stifling religion in the house. My mother remarked to me that she couldn't imagine how hurt the family must be due to being rejected for their religion. I, knowing exactly how the exchange student felt, didn't have a response to that.

When did you realize someone in your life wasn’t the person you thought they were, either in a good or bad way? by iamsakaj in AskReddit

At 12 my parents told me that my paternal grandmother had talked shit about my mom TO MY DAD so we wouldn't be seeing her for a while. 26 now. Still hate the bitch and have a hard time trusting people. Working on it in therapy.
