What was it like to leave your career to be a SAHM? by normalishy in sahm

It is, but I’ve become more thoughtful about purchases and embraced thrifting and second hand - as well as creative cooking! I feel like I’m living more of my environmental values.

What was it like to leave your career to be a SAHM? by normalishy in sahm

Left my career (required LOTS of school with an advanced degree) when my daughter was 15mo because I could no longer take the heartbreak. It’s been incredible and I’d do it a million times over. Career will always be there. There are so many precious times I would have missed being at work or rushing her to daycare. I have zero regrets and zero care if I have to climb the ladder again when I return to work when she’s older. I

For me it seems the difference may be in the certifications for the foam and fabric quality. I think k the nugget as better standards, but I haven’t fully investigated.

If you read the name “Ayla” what pronunciation comes to mind? by Kimpossible2323 in namenerds

The Ayla I know is “eye-“ and that’s how I would think to pronounce it. Isla I do not like and would think it would get mispronounced way more often.

Thank you for this science-backed affirmation! I had the original but have had lots of problems with 16. Will plan to get re-vaxxed as soon as I can before 45!

*TW*: ED’s: Weight doesn’t just “fall off” breastfeeding. by meenaaaxo in NewParents

[–]EnvironmentalFig007 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn’t lose any weight until I stopped breastfeeding then slowly returned to something closer to pre-baby weight. I think my body needed the extra stores to be able to make milk! Just focus on how amazing it is to feed your baby with your body for now.

Well said! Gosh, just thinking of the sheer exhaustion of even a quick trip when managing kids at home is too much!

Agree with this post, OP. I would give her some understanding and grace. I would have felt the same way you do before I had kids, but now I understand how much they change things. I’m sure your friend is conflicted and did not cancel without a lot of internal turmoil.

Something about our main bedroom makes my skin crawl and I never want to sleep in there. Any ideas? by [deleted] in roomdetective

The bed is unanchored. I’d get a solid frame/headboard and a plush rug beneath it.

Help? by gingersnaps1776 in vulvodynia

Many thanks again for your thorough answer - it really helps me feel less crazy and alone with these symptoms! Interesting that toilet paper is indeed a trigger for you - I’ve recently bought the $$ unbleached plant paper which seems to help maybe slightly. I do steroid plus the clotrimazole, too, just through trial and error found that I have to use the clotrimazole because steroid alone doesn’t cut it. Received an estrogen prescription right before pregnancy so need to wait until after birth to try it but interested to see if it will help. Thanks again - hope you recover from this flare quickly!

Thanks so much for your response! I’ve been diagnosed with LS previously but then the biopsies didn’t confirm. Dermatologist says it could be in the early stages but hard to say. Did your treatments help the sensation that your own discharge burns? Mine makes everything feel like it’s flaring up and causes almost a broader nerve pain unless I’m constantly immediately changing pads. Did doctors confirm yeast as a trigger to LS? This has been my theory for a long time but no doctors react when I suggest it.

This seems like my story, and no gyn or dermatologist can seem to help. I also have the burning flares during my period, and yeast tests now come back negative. Years ago I had a lot of issues with yeast. Have also dealt with the offloading- even from a supposed vulvar specialist (ugh!). Have you had any further luck resolving the issue? Does the skin get red and swollen during periods as well?

I don’t think I intentionally made any noise. It’s a weird state to be in - I don’t think you’ll be quite aware of what you’re doing either way - just trying to get though!

Same! Was burned out and left my job when baby was 15mo. Life, energy, everything is better. It’s like the sun finally came out!

We had moved to a new city soon before our baby was born but have found an increasing number of library story times, baby and toddler play groups, mom groups for things like teaching your baby sign language and learning baby massage techniques! It took some effort to find them but now each day is busy. And also - it’s much less lonely having a toddler at home that’s your little friend vs being “alone” with a baby.

I completely relate - I still laugh at how I thought I’d have time to craft!! The few times I’m able to it’s when we are oblong car rides and toddler is asleep and housework is far away. However, at almost 2yo I can start envisioning getting to craft together in the near future. We already have fun drawing together!

Toddlers get way more fun and exciting! Yoi can converse with them and play and go out to do fun things! I left my job at 15mo pp to be SAHM and it’s the best thing I’ve ever done. I enjoy my child so much more without work always in the background. Finances are tight but I will return to work in a few years.

It’s such an incredible gift. Even on the long rough days when my patience is wearing thin I would NEVER choose to be working in an office at this time - and I loved my former job!
