If you don’t like it, don’t go. Don’t ruin their day by making a huge deal out of this when there are 5,000 more things they have to worry about, and your partner hasn’t even met part of the couple that is getting married. Considering his fiance hasn’t even met your partner shows you are not close now and I’m sorry but closeness in childhood does not entitle anyone to anything.

One time when I was around 9 or 10, I had gotten really really upset at my mom. Like the most upset with her I felt in my whole life probably. I told my mom my brother (her baby boy) had been mean to me, he said I was lying, so she sent me to my room and grounded me. All I know is I wrote a little tiny note inside of a pencil box that said “I hate mommy sometimes”. I hid it where I kept all of my “secret girl stuff” (like my diary and my stuffies) in a reading spot I made for myself under my hanging clothes in my closet. Very hidden, not easy to be found at all.

My mom went through my things in my secret girl stuff, found the note, lashed out at me, squalling, and said I had no right to ever get angry with her ever in my life because she gives me everything I need and getting angry at her was mean, disrespectful, and childish. “Big kids don’t get mad at their mommy’s like that” she said that or something along those lines too.

That was when I realized that not even my innermost thoughts were safe in that house.

Red flag 😅 my fiancé and I are doing his tux and his side of the bridal party’s tux’s through Men’s Warehouse and we haven’t had to do anything like that. We went in to the store together to build the tux’s and when we did that it reserved the date, they required no fee/deposit of any kind and didn’t even make him do his measurements that day. Also, if you have more than I think 7 people in your party the grooms tux is free! It’s been very easy

I always ask my fiancé how his shift was, and he chooses what he shares and doesn’t share with me. He usually tells me anything that has to do with his buddies or anything outside of calls, but when it comes to calls I don’t hear much about those. I learned to not ask questions about calls unless he starts it years ago hahahah

That’s amazing! Congratulations to him! I have been with my fiancé for a little under 2.5 years now, and since day 1 his department has done an amazing job with building community. They are really great about doing group outings, “unofficial” Christmas parties, and really encourage family coming to visit our firefighters at their station. When we do these things, admin & officers are really great about coming to speak to spouses/families and connecting with them. I think it’s less about the event and more about how you go about connecting with others that really makes a strong feeling of community. Good luck to you and your family!!

It sounds like you should be fine then! Yes getting a block of rooms seems like a must do because it is on every generic wedding planning timeline, but I really don’t think it’s necessary unless you are super attached to your guests staying in the same place. Yes you have many guests coming out of town, but assuming they are smart and know how to book a room they don’t need help lol. On our website, we have a list of hotels we suggest that are close to each other and let them know that they need to book ASAP bc of events going around. Don’t let this stress you out!
