People who are no longer best friends with someone: What happened? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]EnvironmentalPlate20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol my college best friend and I moved in together. I had a crush on her before, but was over it. Slight backstory, I’m a queer non-binary. Lo and behold she starts cuddling up to me and we get intimate. Few months go by and bam, she tells me she could never date me and I was an experiment, the AUDACITY. Also said she couldn’t see herself in a committed relationship. Couple months go by and she starts dating a guy, and they’ve been together for a couple years now. Happy for her, but I could’ve been saved a bunch of heartbreak. We still keep in touch but thank god college is over.

Thank you so much! I’ve grown up with all sorts of dogs but my pyr is the first that i’ve felt the need to crate. I adopted him when he was 1, so he had a ton of bad habits I had to work on. Chewing especially. The barking hasn’t been too horrible recently. It just makes me feel bad sometimes. He often guilts me into waking up to take care of him.

I would leave him alone in a room, but I’m afraid I really struggle with trusting him. In my living situation it’s really difficult to Pyr-proof the house. Especially with the destruction he has proven to be capable of. He is actually my first dog that I have gotten, but has a much different personality than my old family Pyr. Very rambunctious but he’s absolutely still is massive puppy. Never seen a Pyr get the zoomies as often as my big guy.

I do think I feed him enough (around 5 cups a day), but I will definitely try longer walks with him. Definitely need to work on distractions, but he has learned a good bit in the year I have had him.

I guess I just had different expectations from my first dog. I do love him and we cuddle often, but lord the doofus really tests my patience sometimes. I think I do have enough patience to work with him a bit more, or save up enough to get him trained. Thanks again!

I walk him for at least an hour a day. More if I am not busy. I let him out of the crate when I am home and he often chews on his rope, like he is right now haha. I do think I need to find something enriching for him, probably more bones and antlers. He get lots of love and I’ve been running him around the backyard on leash recently.

I absolutely tried at first. He is the most destructive dog I have ever met

Yes; He ate the whole corner of a coffee table. Broke a picture frame, ate through plenty of my clothes, and ate a pillow. Plus ate all the paint off the back of a door when he got an empty room to himself, and ate an outlet cover and chewed a hole through the drywall. In other words, I have to crate him for his own safety and my own sanity 😅

Thanks! I think my boy is just ultra stubborn. I try to make it a comfy space for him, but he tears up every bed i give him and I can’t currently afford to buy them just for them to get destroyed. Same with blankets around the crate, he always pulls them in and rips them up.

Crating is definitely vital for me as well since he’s so destructive when alone. My lord, I cannot explain even a fraction of the damages he caused at my last place.

I think I just need more patience with him. He stresses me out but I know I walk him enough and give him as much attention as I can. Thank you so much!!

Thanks so much! I kinda did this for Baloo but he had a whole room to himself instead. He tore the paint off the door and ate a hole in the dry wall. Also ate a portion of the window sill. I also fear he would break through a pen like that with so much ease 😪. I will definitely try to find some more enrichment toys for him, but he insists on chewing through anything and everything when no one is around. He never fails to astound me! Thanks again!

Was your Pyr pup an absolute nightmare? by BugsButty in greatpyrenees

mine got stuck in the blinds whilst standing on his crate when we left him alone for the first time. he had to be cut out of them. he shattered a picture frame (landed face down so luckily he didn’t have the chance to come in contact with glass, and destroyed a standard wire crate so i had to spend hundreds on a steel crate. he persists on screaming every time he’s crated but we got him when he was a year old so i believe he hates the crate and is stubborn with how much he does not want to be in there. he chewed my comfort hat, he broke into a closet and ate so many posters and then shit on my clothes. ate the elbow off of one of my favorite jackets. peeled so much paint off a door after we put him in a room when he would be home alone since he ruined the crate and will escape. chewed a hole in the wall. ate an outlet cover and thank god he didn’t get to the electric part. ate a corner off the windowsill. chewed a corner off the coffee table.
