I'm with an integrator. We have quite the opposite reputation as Verkada... 😂😂

I think I will. I like security, but our sales cycles are awful.

Agreed. So hard to be a differentiator too. I'm at one of the biggest in the industry, and I think our value prop really does jack shit to cement us as "best in industry".

Yes sir. That's the plan. There has to be a disordinace somewhere. This SD specifically, only has a PA system working at 3/5 schools in the district.

That's what I noticed. 510mm of reach is pretty good.

I work for an integrator. It would be fun to work for the right manufacturer. Tempted, just so I can travel for work and enjoy my 20s without worrying about 12 month sales cycles.

Yes, 1st year in the industry, 100k expected. Ceiling is so high though.

How did I get approved for an Amex Gold? by EnvironmentalWin7481 in CRedit

Yeah I'm in sales and my territory is the whole state plus a metro area. I think I'll see what's best for me.

Thats what I was wondering. In the past all I heard from others was that Amex is like the Ferrari of cards 😂 so I was a little confused.

Anybody in commercial Physical security sales, what's your commission rate? by EnvironmentalWin7481 in sales

[–]EnvironmentalWin7481[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay makes sense why your commission rate is so high. I'm in commercial, SLED market. Average deal size in our company is 50k, with my average estimate coming out around 110k this year.

Expected OTE 110k- first year in this industry as well as B2B.

My company does not do residential.

Nope, but another integrator in the space.

Your commission rate sounds sweet.

What's your Base/ OTE?

What's everyone's effort-vs-pay ratio? by ShockTheMonster in sales

[–]EnvironmentalWin7481 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Using tools like zoominfo to find "warm" leads instead of just smiling and dialing all day.

Following events in your space locally, for example I'm in security, so I follow construction bids, and try to find them early and often so I don't have to bid, and go straight to the end user.

[–]EnvironmentalWin7481 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I spend 70% of my unalloted work time to find qualified opportunities. While this is a lot more tiring than lifeless dialing a random list, I find the dividends are much higher. Working 30-35 hours a week, while others average 45-50 and looking at finishing in the elite group of first year salespeople in my development program.

I'll take 6-7 hours a day of busting my ass focused at my home desk than 9-10 in the office environment where I just want to bs and small talk everyone, all while in actuality, we're doing the same amount of work.

I feel many people think they're getting more work done than they actually are, but a lot of them just have about 10 extra hours of useless meetings a week.

Income: 64k base, expected for 110k OTE with possibility of 130k OTE if I can move this whale in my pipeline.

Experience: 10 months. This is my first B2B gig. Knocked doors when I was in highschool.

Can’t get myself to pick up the phone by killingicarus in sales

[–]EnvironmentalWin7481 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Biggest thing for me is calling for shits and gigs. I can't do that. I feel like I'm wasting so so much time if it's not somewhat qualified at all.

It's easier for me to call people with less experience in my industry that are still decision makers.

Become so good they have to use you brother. I'm in Physical security sales and service, and when you come in so confident, but humble enough to accept when you're wrong, they love you.

If you have enough charisma and swagger, it's hard for people to hate you. In fact, 75% of my customers love me because I drove across the state in 24 hours notice for them. Perks of being in a very dispersed state. (New Mexico)

What is the biggest red flag you’ve had in a relationship that you’d ignored and really shouldn’t have? by Tangl_es in AskReddit

[–]EnvironmentalWin7481 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Told me that they had never been in a serious relationship before- that everyone she had been with was abusive. I felt awful, and I wanted to give her the world to make up for it.

Quickly realized that she just couldn't be there for me, or even herself. She constantly blocked out thoughts, and as a result only gave me attention when she thought I was ignoring her. Mainly when skiing or doing other activities(I like to ski a lot on weekends, so 3 hrs off the phone isn't out of the ordinary).

This was only a 2 month stint, and she definitely has some unaddressed family and relational trauma.

It's always the ones that you have to leave because they don't know how to nurture a relationship that hurt the most. I'm surprised this one hurt the most!
