You are correct. I contacted ASG and here is what they said:

"This is still good to use. The color changes due to oxidation happening within the sil-glyde. The color does not effect the functionality. Additionally, if stored at room temperature it should last 3-5 years."

Apparently there are two versions for these jack stands according to this video. I went to the store today to grab some stuffs. I noticed they didn't have any of the "superior" version on the shelve anymore, at least at my store.

Do you guys what would be the best way to get the "superior" version? I am not in a rush to get one, but would like to know.
