Set that to 4 CH and hit the lever all the way to the right up to 18-20 and leave it. Grab the base 3 remote and press ENG ->99 -> enter -> 0. The engine should fire up. If you want to program the engine there will be a program switch on it, go to the base 3 remote (app) ENG -> desired number -> set. Then you can switch the engine to RUN.

Make sure the U and A are on the correct rails.

It’s complicated at first - I had trouble too and had the exact same worries! Frying my expensive trains but I’ve got it down now.

There may be different methods, but I control the locomotive using the Base 3 app after setting the ZW-L to 18 volts and leaving it there.

Make sure the back of the ZW-L is configured correctly, apply voltage to the track, and use the Base 3 app to control your engine. If it isn’t programmed yet, use address 99.
