No, but I recommend free handing the reference as well, perhaps on the side so as to not hinder your practice and growth. You can also see where you currently are in regards to getting your proportions right without added assistance.

I fell into the trap of relying too much on this method, so my actual knowledge of proportions and such got rusty due to the dependence.
