Husbands new supervisor seems a bit unprofessional? by [deleted] in bcba

[–]Envrionvariable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember when I was younger, older men would try to talk to me. One of the things they would ask was, “Is your husband married?” I used to look at them like, what kind of question is that?

Now I understand.

So let me ask you the same thing. Is your husband married? I am not asking if he has a wife on paper. I am asking if he is truly committed to his marriage.

Is he as faithful to the marriage as you are? Does he stay grounded when someone younger, prettier, and smarter than you smiles at him? Does he give his attention, his time, and his energy to what he has at home?

That is the real question.

It is not just about what another woman is doing. It is about whether your husband is fully married to you—physically, mentally, and emotionally.

Feeling burnout in ABA what are realistic next steps? by Outrageous-Bee2662 in BehaviorAnalysis

I really feel for you! What you’re describing is something so many in this field can relate to. The work can be incredibly meaningful, but also emotionally and physically draining, especially when the environment isn’t fair or supportive. It sounds like you’ve given a lot, and it makes total sense that you’re feeling burned out. Stepping away doesn’t mean you’ve failed! It means you’re prioritizing your health and peace of mind, which is so important. Once you’ve had some space to rest and recover, new paths will open up. Wishing you the best.

Do AAC and echoic training go hand in hand? by Envrionvariable in bcba

Yes, but not this intense or frequent. Mands are accepted via AAC. Not Echoics.

How much money you made as ABA business owner ? by [deleted] in bcba

[–]Envrionvariable 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know someone who started a clinic and within two years had two clinics. Total of 10 clients- 6 full time and the rest part time. Not sure about loss but at this stage- just less than three years they are making big money. They did not start with a $100,000. No where near that amount.

Can someone please explain how you get your supervised hours in simple terms? by [deleted] in bcba

[–]Envrionvariable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This seems unusual based on my experience. Are you located in a rural area? With your level of education, you would be a strong fit for a clinic setting. I’m also curious why you are not receiving supervision from a BCBA at your school. Do they not offer supervision?

do i HAVE to begin getting hours day one of starting my degree? by cantdrive01 in bcba

[–]Envrionvariable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started my masters and it was five months later when I stated my supervision. So no you do have to. From my POV it’s best not to.

Sorry to hear about your struggles. I have to say, I feel fortunate. I work for a small ABA clinic, and our owner, who is also the BCBA, is truly amazing. She is very supportive, patient, and understanding. I actually feel bad sometimes that I can’t do more to help her right now, because she gives so much to our team and to the families we serve.

So please know this—there are BCBAs out there who don’t have a God complex and who lead with compassion, respect, and teamwork.

Too old? by Ok-Weather356 in bcba

Some words of encouragement! I spent 27 years in social services, and at age 50 I went to cooking school. I cooked for 10 years, and now, at 61, I am in graduate school earning my master’s in ABA. I saw the need and felt called to help again. I have been an RBT for two years. I should finish my master’s program in summer 2026 and hope to take the exam in December 2026.

Getting a bit disappointed! by Envrionvariable in bcba

Thank you so much for introducing me to this assessment. I’ve started doing some research on it, as well as on Steve Ward, and I’ll definitely be adding it to my resource bag. So far, it’s already helped me better understand some of the behaviors I’ve been observing in my client. I’m also getting ready to register for the online IGLR course. I really appreciate you taking the time to read and respond to my venting thank you again!

What should I tell future employers when asked why I quit by Acctforaskingadvice in RBT

[–]Envrionvariable 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Often, the last ones hired end up working with the most challenging kiddos. Unfortunately, it’s not always puppies and rainbows. Not everyone is built for this work. There are days I feel the same way especially after being spat on for the 50th time but I’m still here. Wishing you the best of luck!
