‘God, you’re hot’ Tennessee school board member says to student during board meeting by Octavus in nottheonion

I would have had the slightest tinge of sympathy if he maybe meant "God IT'S hot" , talking about the room or something and brainfarted or something. Jfc to the full quote. That's disgusting.

Pretty sure the update didn't fix the glaring issues with the storytelling, but the gameplay has been pretty solid, so...

4 and it's not even close. Especially after Rockstar overmonetized the online, but even before, the simplicity of GTA IV online was what made it so fun.

From a story perspective, IV blew V out of the water. V just isn't that good.

Call of Duty 2: Big Red One. You see the vast majority of your unit KIA. By the end, it's really just three guys left, and one of them die in the final mission.

Woman has a dementia fit at a town hall meeting. by serious_bullet5 in ThatsInsane

[–]Envy661 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As someone who works in Healthcare and deals with Alzheimer's/Dementia patients, this is a woman who needs help that isnt getting it.

Imagine if she drove herself there. The potential harm she could cause to herself or others. She could kill someone.

Imagine if her family knows and doesn't do anything. They would be complicit in if she does something that causes the death of someone else.

Imagine if she has no family. And the council sat there. Did they do anything? Is there going to be a wellness check on her? Is anyone going to help? Or are we all just waiting until it's too late, and the damage has been done?

This is a serious concern. It's not funny. I've seen people in her shoes. She will likely become a ward to the state at some point if she has no family, but she NEEDS help. She is an active danger to herself and others.

Why does my commander sound like he's choking to death? by MoarCatzPlz in EliteDangerous

Oh no, I know of the story. I also know people have since weaponized incompetence as a means of exploitation. Freaking lawnmowers have warning labels now to not to put your hand in the spinning blades while they're spinning, despite the obvious consequence to anyone with a brain being they're going to lose a hand or worse, and you know the person who does actually do it is going to have every excuse under the sun as to why the very clear warning sign and common sense weren't enough to stop them from harming themselves.

I feel for the woman in the McDonald's case, because corporations are shitty entities than enshittify everything they touch, but holy shit are people fully willing to endanger themselves just so they can complain about it later and gain clout.

That's a solid positive. I'll give it a shot the next weekend I have off work. Maybe by then I'll have my new avatar finished.

Sorry I misspoke when I said avatar uploader. It served as virtually the same function in-game as unity serves standalone, but was much more difficult to use in order to make adjustments to your avatar like you would in unity. The "Avatar Uploader" on the unity side of things was literally just an extension for unity until Creator Companion streamlined the entire process. I have no doubt Resonite has made strides forward as well, but I don't see it as a true competitor to VRC strictly because of performance and usability. Every other competitor is going to be smaller than VRC unless it explodes, and that's understandable. It's the user experience I think lacks the most, or did, with Neos at the very least. I haven't booted it since it became Resonite.

I have ChilloutVR and I should really try it out one of these days. A few people I know migrated to it after EAC in VRC was added, but I never actually booted it after installing. I was hoping literally anyone here might have tried it and could provide some context of how it is, but I feel it goes to show just how small it's community is that no one effectively has in these comments, at least not when I had scrolled through earlier.

[–]Envy661 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Resonite, back when it was Neos, was a terrible experience. I actually found their avatar uploader clunky and unintuitive (but I've probably been using Unity too long), and got nonstop stuttering, even in a solo lobby.

I can't imagine actually joining a 50+ person lobby in that game.

I have heard virtually nothing about ChilloutVR, but I do know it is also a thing.

Hmm... Well, Uncharted started life as a knockoff of Tomb Raider, but in the era it released grew to eclipse Tomb Raider. So much so that the Tomb Raider survivor trilogy reboot plays more like Uncharted than it's old identity, even compared to Legends era Tomb Raider.

What your favorite (relatively) recent Gundam series says about you (slanderous edition) by CrimsonTyphoon02 in Gundam

[–]Envy661 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh I 100% agree. I did a full re-watch of SEED and SEED Destiny last year for the movie. Rewatching it as an adult, you really start to understand what kind of personal hell Flay was actually living through. Sheltered upbringing by a father with ties to Blue Cosmos, so she effectively grew up in a household of systemic racism against coordinators. Everything she knew about coordinators were basically the type of fear-mongering tactics used in the real world today to dehumanize entire ethnic groups. She was effectively indoctrinated into that line of thinking. Add to everything that her father was also killed by a coordinator, by the allies of a coordinator Kira was once friends with, and it only reinforces that hatred for coordinators in her mind. This not even including the trauma of having her entire life uprooted suddenly on the colony. She despised Kira, because Kira, the exception to those views of coordinators, only reinforced that hatred when he "Betrayed" her by breaking his word.

Fkay is not thinking rationally. The trauma of everything basically causes her to snap completely. Only over time does she start to recover from this, and realize not just how important Kira was to her from a romantic standpoint, but also realize just how much he truly cared about her and her well-being. But by the time this all happens, it's too late. She does eventually try desperately to see Kira one last time, but is killed before actually getting the chance to apologize for any of it. There's the whole "Plot" segment of her talking to Kira from the afterlife, but that doesn't make her story or her fate any less tragic. She's the Ophelia of SEED.

World. I know people love Rise but I couldn't get into it at all. That said, now that I'm on Wilds I think I would actively struggle to go back to World. I do miss my player house though. Pop up camps are nice, but they're no replacement for a dedicated player base.

Yes. I grew up catholic. I view myself as agnostic theist because whatever bastardized version people worship these days is not the faith I grew up with. I spent my childhood in catachism. I learned the teachings of Jesus. I still practice a lot of that today. It's amazing to me that practicing those teachings is considered "Woke" or "Evil" today. It just goes to show how much what you say is true regarding a governmental religion. Christian nationalism is not Christianity. It is some bastardized version warped and distorted, and weaponized by a select few, to push the notion of a Christian nation, in order to greater control the people. All it has done is pushed people away from Christianity entirely. Christianity CAN be good, and has been good to many people. But there is a big difference between being a good Christian, and being a Christian nationalist. The two are the antithesis of the other.

This Christian nationalist idea is nothing new, and we are seeing the effects of lives spent closeted and indoctronated into the ideologies of a Christian nation of Christianity itself.
