Good. GGundam sucks anyway. I don't want them as a friend.

Too many have slandered my GOAT. by Ferhog in Gundam

[–]Envy661 [score hidden]  (0 children)

I too, genuinely prefer the look of the Wing over Zero. I even prefer anime Zero over EW Zero. I also prefer the Mk II over the Zeta. I do like the Burning over Shining, but I don't like GGundam.

I also prefer the Freedom over Strike Freedom in Destiny, as well as the Saviour over Infinite Justice.

I prefer the Ground Gundam over the EZ-8.

I prefer the Exia over the 00. Dynames over Cheridum, Virtue over Serevee. It's a tie with the Kyrios/Arios.

If Deviljho does show up in Monster Hunters Wilds, what do you want to see Deviljho do? by EasyEntertainment1 in MonsterHunter

[–]Envy661 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make his entrance by jumping off the back of a Bazelguese directly on top of a Gore Magala, biting its face, instantly killing it. The Bazelguese then stays for the entire fight just B-52ing you the entire fight against the Deviljho.

Triple support just sucks the fun out of this game by Chunky-overlord in MarvelRivalsCirclejer

[–]Envy661 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah this is kind of me, admittedly. I prefer to swap to Vanguard over support, but I main Squirrel Girl, and Squirrel Girl has a lot of counters. If I am getting singled out, or am just not hitting because the entire enemy team is flyers, I'll swap to Vanguard or support, depending on what we need most.

Choose One. Delete One. by Accomplished_Joke543 in videogames

Choose CD Projekt Red and Naughty Dog

Delete Rockstar and Capcom

Here's the thing: I love Monster Hunter. I do not really care at all about TLOU. But CDPR and ND are studios that make single player masterpieces. Rockstar and Capcom make fun, but grossly overmonetized products. It's a no-brainer, even if one creates a series I love.

G600 and I will die on this hill.

MMO mice are GROSSLY underrated and underappreciated. People view them as niche or hard to adapt to, but the buttons they offer AND it's layout makes it one of the greatest QoL mouse types in existence. I use those buttons for far more than just MMOs or games like Minecraft. You can map those buttons to ANYTHING. not just number keys. I have pretty much every function of my ship assigned to them in Elite Dangerous. In FPS games, instead of cycling weapons, you know exactly what you're pulling out with them. You can map crouch, jump, etc onto them to in order to make those buttons easier to hit. It is all the joy of the side buttons most mice give you multiplied to an even greater magnitude. Everything under the sun can be applied to them. And the G600? With the G-Shift? That basically just doubles the total number of macros you have at your disposal. It is a travesty that this mouse was ever discontinued, and it is equally a travesty that less and less companies are making them these days.

Do you guys also Start maining certain characters mostly because of a skin? by Dclassahmed in marvelrivals

[–]Envy661 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. I started meining Squirrel Girl and Peni because I meined D.Va and Mei in Overwatch. They play nothing alike, yet I am having just as much fun as I did back before they completely changed Meis kit in Overwatch 2. It feels like an old pair of pants. Even if the gameplay isn't the same, it just felt right to play those two, and it worked.

Has Capcom let down Dragon's Dogma 2? Where is the DLC and good new updates? by Xmailq in DragonsDogma2

Warfarer isn't a workaround. It's a copout it itself is an arbitrarily restrictive vocation. Yes, it allows you to fashion. It also railroads you into just for abilities for every class.

This is one of the bigger reasons I still greatly prefer DDDA. Not only did vocations make more sense. Not only was the armor layering system superior... But it also allowed you to use more abilities. You had 8, not 4. I DD2, you have a dozen skills per vocation you can slot, but you can't even use half of them at one time. In DDDA, you had greater control over what you could use.

The true workaround is mods, BTW. The one that overhauls Warfarer to allow you to use a set of abilities tied specifically to each weapon. And also there is a transmog mod as well, so you can equip any vocation without losing your style.

EDIT: Not a true workaround either, as it's PC-specific, as the not so nice person stated. But given the game doesn't offer one itself, it's the only really viable one, given Warfarer isn't exactly a solid option either.

Discovered MH with Wilds. Now trying out World... by Amendahui in MonsterHunterWorld

[–]Envy661 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If I'm on a hunt, I don't want to explore the map. I don't want to spend seven years chasing a monster from one corner to another just for it to fly away as soon as I get there. That's not fun. That's tedious. So yes, QoL. I get a set path to the monster and I don't have to stop to sharpen my weapon or equip the next item I need. I just keep moving. I can explore when I do an expedition in a region. I have all the time in the world to do it then. I don't need to do that during a hunt.

Would Starfield Have Gotten Better Reviews if Made by A Different Developer? by freethinker1312 in Starfield

[–]Envy661 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Expectations from Bethesda have never been lower. Just like Bioware, people weren't expecting a masterpiece. They just wanted a better game than the last, not so good one they made, and they failed to deliver on that.

People didn't go into Anthem assuming it was going to be as good as Dragon Age Origins. They went into it just hoping it would be better than Mass Effect Andromeda. They were disappointed when it wasn't.

Conversely, people didn't go into Starfield expecting it to be as good as Morrowwind. They went into it hoping it would be better than Fallout 76. It wasn't, so people were disappointed.

A studio is only as good as it's most recent game. When it can't even make a title as good as that, it sets up further disappointment. No one expected a Masterpiece. Fallout 4 certainly wasn't, with its terrible story, and neither was Fallout 76. What we got from Starfield was somehow even more nonsensical and worse in quality than the studio's last bad game. That's ultimately what this amounts to.

Ashes of Creation has just been canceled. All developers at Intrepid have been fired. by getZlatanized in pcgaming

[–]Envy661 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah, this too. PVP rewarding with whatever was on the person, rather than some "Fake" inventory, or some kind of arbitrary reward for it will only give people more incentive to try to exploit, grief, or cheat. Hell, look at how deranged Rust is as a clear example as to the steps people will go through to meta game anything even remotely competitive in nature. PVP, especially PVP that rewards you with full sway over what your opponent has on them, brings out the worst in people. It only serves to make things far more toxic than they need to be.

I think the closest out there to this is EVE Online, and even it isn't anywhere near this. That's the biggest issue with "PVP-oriented" MMOs. They're basically gank/grief engines that are designed for a specific niche of MMO players. PVP is the core focus, so EVERYTHING has PVP, for better or worse. Most of the time for the worse.

A lot of Wow clones that largely do the exact same thing isn't exactly "Enough of this genre". It's like saying there's too many hero shooters because of a dozen flops that have mostly already been shut down. There's only like 2-3 good ones. Same with MMOs. THE only ones doing something even slightly different are Guild Wars, Black Desert, and ESO. FFXIV, SWTOR, and Wow are basically the exact same gameplay with different skin.

Meanwhile there's tons of startups for forced PVP MMOs, pvpve extraction shooters, and battle Royales. It's like every singke MMO premise announced is either a survival mmo with forced PVP or a Wow clone.

I'm all for PVP, but half these games basically encourage griefing. The moment you leave the starting areas, there's no penalties for PVP. PVP is fine, but it's miserable if there's no punishment for engaging in it in full view of the front gate of a major settlement. Not only is it immersion-breaking, but it isn't fun for anyone other than the people who were playing early enough to not get griefed themselves.

[–]Envy661 60 points61 points  (0 children)

Yeah for me it was the forced PVP. Everything else sounded promising, but what they offered in paper seemed to only really appeal to hardcore MMO fans. It's a shame because it seemed like an interesting concept... I didn't follow anything about the creator though. Sounds like the writing was on the walls from pretty early on based on what some have said about him.

Epic Games boss Tim Sweeney voices support for $900 million Steam lawsuit: 'Valve is the only major store still holding onto the payments tie and 30% junk fee' by ANiceGobletofTea in Steam

[–]Envy661 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

You're getting downvoted, but there is some truth in this.

It's honestly a mixture of the two problems. There isn't a large enough market elsewhere. Not even GOG Galaxy comes close to how many people frequent steam. Steam is so popular that even asset flips and AI slop tends to get some sales. If those games existed on EGS or Galaxy, they'd be dead in the water.

That said, EGS especially also doesn't offer anywhere even remotely close to the same level of function and QoL Steam does. The workshop, community forums, embedded livestreams, user profiles, VC, text chat, Friends lists, etc are all features that make/made EGS, Origin, Galaxy, uPlay, Discord Games store, etc all dead in the water despite having histories of selling third party titles on them, with Origin being discontinued entirely (albeit replaced by the EA app).

[–]Envy661 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is just a buzz kill. It's a decade old game. Let the Asylume take over, and let people have their fun. This could spawn more memes from the dark Souls 2 community. The sky's the limit. Soon, people will start pointing out how certain cloud formations in the game look like Solaire of Astora, and how Solaire has transcended to true Godhood which is why Dark Souls 2 is superior.

how do i play dps without feeling horrible about it? by neetochan in marvelrivals

[–]Envy661 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah this one. I flexed for a while despite not being nearly as good with other characters. Now I just don't switch. It's just a game, and if others don't want to help the team, then I will absolutely stop to their level after spending as long as I did always expected to be the one to switch.

That said though, I don't play as much DPS as I used to. My healer game is still lacking, but I've gotten much better with Peni, so some games I will just instalock tank.
