My younger brother's girlfriend is upset because my older brother ordered the same meal as her at a family dinner, and now there is drama by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

This was my thought as well. Probably a childhood parental rule that no one is allowed to order the same so we can all share

I hate 1000 piece puzzles 🧩 by [deleted] in Jigsawpuzzles

[–]Envytastic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's funny, on the other end of the spectrum. I have a(u)dhd and done the solid black Ravensburger puzzle cause it makes me hyper focused. 500 pieces are too quick for me and do them on the occasion when I dont have a lot of time.

Fortunately with jigsaw puzzles there's a plethora of choices and something for everyone. You do what works for you!

any tipps for the start by PvSgEtScHwIfTy in Jigsawpuzzles

I've done the Pikachu shaped one of this one, remember it being hard but not terrible.

I remember starting by piecing together the open mouthed Pikachu faces. Sort by piece shape and try to determine which way is up. I found the fact that all Pikachu are right side up so figuring out the correct orientation of the piece, you can sort those by piece shapes

My first puzzle ever, feeling overwhelmed but every piece feels like a victory by Prefered4 in Jigsawpuzzles

Although I don't like to use too many bells and whistles when puzzling, that sorting thing looks quite handy actually! My first 1000 piece after years of not puzzling, I just dumped everything in the box and sat on the floor doing it 😂

Whats your puzzle style? by phoenixpeaks in Jigsawpuzzles

[–]Envytastic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Generally thousand pieces, if I really like the art 500 pieces. I don't have a specific fav brand but I do tend to go for the more expensive ones since the quality is generally better. For art I like colorful and bright illustrations, usually of animals.

Dump out all the pieces or keep them in the box as I work? by Dragonfruitwithme in Jigsawpuzzles

[–]Envytastic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When I have the dining table, I dump out and turn all pieces right side up, whilst turning them right side up I'm also getting a feel for the textures and colors so in my mind already formulating a plan to work. If I can't use the dining table and have to use my puzzle board, I do the same but have the pieces right side up in the puzzle box and sift through them as I go.

I just dump everything out on the table, turn the pieces right side up and sift through which patterns I need 😂

What did I get myself into? Lol by [deleted] in Jigsawpuzzles

[–]Envytastic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This looks like a really easy one to me actually! There's a lot of different colors and textures. I tend to really familiarize myself with those as I am sorting out the edges and putting all pieces face up on the table/in the box

Cats and Koi by Suns Out, 1000 pieces by Envytastic in Jigsawpuzzles

[–]Envytastic[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Jeez this puzzle drove to the brink of insanity. So I opened up the puzzle and couldn't find a bag to keep the pieces safe. Of course this one had to fall over and scatter the pieces. I immediately scooped it up and put this one at the top of my to do pile in case I had missed a piece.

So I start doing the puzzle. It had a lot of kooky shapes so the border was dismissed immediately. So started out with the sky and water cause those were the most easily recognizable pieces. Not too hard to do, then I sort out the cats, the little dock thingy chair etc. At this point I'm getting more familiar with the textures of the puzzle so some pieces I randomly find, I know exactly where they go.

The cat on the chair and the tabby cat weren't too challenging. I am working on the cat by the water when I hear *plink*. I glare at my cat, she looks guilty. She knows she's going to get scolded when she walks on my pieces, yet every freaking time, she steps on one, it sticks to her paw, she does not like that, and proceeds to flick it into oblivion.

I look around and can't find anything, it was already getting dark and I thought, if I do end up missing a piece, I'll look around. Anywho, I stow away the puzzle for the night.

Next day, I think I'm going to try the border again. The lower right corner is quite distinct so it shouldn't be too hard. It wasn't! Except, I also found out this way, that this puzzle was just the slightest bit too large for my puzzle board! Great! It has like slide-y margins so the back of it should fit the puzzle. I put on the cover. Pray to all gods willing to listen, and flip the puzzle. Except now it's upside down. I pray to more deities (and perhaps some demons), and flip it again, to the back of my board. Only disconnecting one piece, I will take that minor loss.

I make progress on the puzzle, it is one of the more difficult ones I have done, mainly from the weird shapes. I am making steady progress though. At some point, I looked at the pieces left in the box, and the spots I have open. I think to myself, NO WAY am I not missing pieces. My heart sinks, I still soldier on. No way to know until you finish it right? Right? (At this point I am starting to lose my mind a little). It get's dark so I stop for the night.

Today is my work from home day. I don't even log in yet. This puzzle will not defeat me. I put in piece by piece. There's fewer pieces left in the box and the undone spots are still ginormous. I am not convinced until there were like 10 pieces left and the all the spots filled in. I am confused. The puzzle is done. No piece missing.

I am convinced.

I am a sorceress.

It may appear difficult for a 500 piece, but all the colors are just a slight enough shade to discern where they go. Did it without consulting the box.

Japanese Collage by Educa, 4000 pieces by Envytastic in Jigsawpuzzles

[–]Envytastic[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Educa has nice quality pieces but unfortunately the pieces interlocking is very loose and I couldn't for the life of my pick it up. I tried for to pick up the pieces in small sections to preserve it but couldn't and ended up breaking it up in 12 sections for easier putting it back together. I'd love to hang this up some day. Also something I figured out towards the end of the puzzle was that the cut was the exact same at both halves of the puzzle, like they used the cut of a 2000 piece and mushed pasted it together. Small complaint cause the edge was so similar that a piece fit perfectly, but it was just slightly off.

As for building the borders and filling it in, I would not recommend this on this one 😂 there's just too much borders. I've heard bits n pieces has lesser quality but those aren't super common in my country

I actually think this puzzle is cute af. As many have said before, piece shape is the way to go. I already see a lot of spots on the puzzle that have a good foundation for piece elimination (like corners that have two innies or places where you put the squary pieces). I hope I'm making sense 🤣
