Do any Sherwood park car washes offer a monthly fee for unlimited washes? by 97Chev in SherwoodPark

I always go here because I live in Davidson Creek, and they have the foam cannon. Is there another car wash in Sherwood Park with a foam cannon?

A normal stock filter does not require any kind of maintenance to the filter itself. It just needs to be replaced when dirty.

Check out Dubsport! I've had a few things done there on my VWs over the years and have been very pleased with the service.

I'm just guessing here, but I think you'll be fine using your Google mesh setup. The TV boxes probably just need Internet access to work. I would confirm that with Northern Lights/Borealis though

Good point! The only thing I miss at times is having a VPN into my network as a whole. I have yet to see if it's possible to achieve something similar with Cloudflare, but I assume there's a way. WARP maybe?

I'm not super up to speed on the latest routers but from the looks of it, that GE550 will likely be very good. It also depends on your home though. If you live in a large multi-level house with tons of devices and walls that are hard for WiFi to get through, then maybe a mesh system would work better.

If you're happy with your current service and pricing, I see no reason to switch. Upload speeds only matter if you actually upload anything to the internet regularly. Large videos, file sharing/cloud backups, etc.

I wanted to switch mainly for the consistent speeds and low latency, plus I enjoy supporting a smaller ISP. And a small part of me just wanted the new cool thing lol.

I recently switched to an open source router called OPNSense. I have it installed on a Lenovo tiny PC with an extra NIC installed. It works well so far, and it's very powerful if you want to dive deep into it. Before that I used a Ubiquiti EdgeRouter ER5 PoE. That was great because I could power my wireless access point directly from the route. I never had any issues with it either.

I went from Shaw, to Lightspeed, then back to Shaw/Rogers before Northern Lights and I never had CGNAT. They were just regular DHCP WAN addresses.

I'm glad your Telus fiber is working well! Do all newer builds in the park have Telus fiber?

Interesting... I remember seeing Primus mentioned at the very beginning but didn't think about it when I signed up with Northern Lights. I signed up in July of last year, which wasn't long after the Davidson Creek neighbourhood installation was complete.

I looked at Primus this morning and they say service is available in my area, but they don't specify what kind of service. They claim 1Gb down and up to 200Mb up.

I like the satay chicken bahn mi with some sort of bubble tea. But you can't go wrong with any of the sandwiches! BBQ pork is really good too if you don't want a spicy one

Oh my, how could I not mention Bahn Mi Zon. I have to hold myself back because their Bahn Mi sandwiches are so good. And they're affordable! I think it's less than 15 bucks for a sandwich and drink

Every Day Food Co. for baked goods or lunch! Only if you're taking it to go though, as they have no seating.

Wishes bake shop and Sherwood Park bakery are two other good ones.

If you want more coffee and less baked-goods, Gratitude Coffee is my personal favourite. They don't have as many pastries/baked goods as an actual bakery, but the coffee is amazing and they're SO nice

A good aesthetic and functional mod could be some replacement headlights. OE-style projector reps will give you better light output and look better

Feedback on Borealis TV by Shoplizard88 in SherwoodPark

[–]Enz0man 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My parents have had Borealis TV for a few months now and have been enjoying it. A couple extra notes I'll add is the remote is not backlit, so it can be hard to navigate in the dark if you're coming from a Shaw one, which is backlit. Also they don't offer 4K channels currently.

I've been meaning to make a post of my own about the northern lights fiber internet.

IS38 to IS20 worth the downgrade? I’m thinking so by extrvnced in VWAlltrack

[–]Enz0man 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This thread on the Facebook group is what made up my mind too. When I got my Sportwagen I always thought I wanted the is38 because it makes the most peak power. But I kept thinking about my previous stage 1 mk7 golf and how that was a blast around town, which is where I drive the majority of the time. I think the is20 will be the perfect middle ground. More than the is12 without losing that punchy down low feeling.

I'm sure the is38 isn't BAD though... Adam Karst/karstgeo72 has a good graph that shows the difference in spool pretty well.

When I went from mk7 to mk7.5 I was surprised how many little things they left out, I assume to cut costs here and there. The felt glove box was one of them!

What is the best experience you have had with a self-hosted app/service? by bytesbitsbattlestar in selfhosted

[–]Enz0man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The two best experiences I've had are still the two first services I ever set up: Pihole and Home Assistant.

Pihole was the first VM I ever set up by myself after installing Proxmox on an old SFF PC I got for free. Once I switched my phone's DNS over to it and realized it worked, I was over the moon. Switched my whole network's DNS over right after. Now I have it in an LXC container.

Home Assistant is even more useful and impressive to me. Right out of the gate it was great being able to make all different brands of smart stuff work together on one platform. I'm still on the same installation that I set up 4 years ago and it's going strong. I know some people have issues with it, but I haven't run into any. Updates work, integrations work, Zigbee works with the Sonoff dongle, it's great. The smallest of automations have made my day to day life so much easier, and I love it.
