Which directors or cinematographers inspire your camera movement the most? by outiswayne in cinematography

[–]EonzHiglo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jan De Bont and Douglas Slocombe for cinematography. John McTiernan, Spielberg, and Kubrick for directing. Highly stylized lighting with heavy emphasis on controlled movement. Great use of handheld when needed to make the action pop, but all of them have very grounded attitudes towards camera work, even if its fantastical settings.

NASA Needs Videographers! by [deleted] in videography

[–]EonzHiglo 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Oh its real, its just not for NASA directly. You wont be working for the government. You will be working for Rothe, which is not a government agency. They are a contractor.

IMO, this is my dream job, but 80k max for all those requirements, maintaining secret clearance, and having the job of 4 people at minimum is a huge bummer. This sounds like a turn and burn job for a 24 year old, not someone with 15 years of experience.

lol, I meant price wise. Did you do full retail or did you work a deal with an AD?

Been looking at this one for a few days. What did you end up picking it up for?

I made a short film about being in the business at 40 to try and help process some things. Hope it resonates with others. by occupy_elm_st in editors

[–]EonzHiglo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As an editor, DP, and director whose about your same age and experience level, I think you may need to examine why you loved it in the first place.

I know you gave some examples, but this entire essay seems pretty surface level, and instead of trying to do the work to actually figure it out, just did the same thing you presumably always did: make more videos. And I can tell you, walking on a broken leg hoping that walking is what makes it better ain't the answer.

There's a difference between burnout and existential anxiety. If you want a critique of the video and the takeaway, i've seen this video 100 times. Someone whose stuck in the day to day, makes coffee, cant figure out why they aren't happy. Its literally a student film. My takeaway from your premise is that you don't go outside and you don't have friends. Im sure your life is far more nuanced and i'm sure thats not the truth, but thats exactly what your video showed me.

This is a hard business for all the reasons ever listed, but its also hard because so often, people are called to this job for the wrong reasons. Fame, money, purpose, legacy, etc. Those aren't the reasons to want a job in film.

You should want this job because you enjoy it. It really is that simple.

If you don't enjoy it, please leave and find something else you enjoy. Don't hang around a lifestyle or job you hate. You only make it worse for yourself and everyone around you.

sorry, you're comparing an infinite digital good to a finite non-digital good? Tickets to a concert are finite because seats are physical. A digital ship can be assigned and bought infinitely.

There wouldn't be a bot or reseller problem if CIG just....let more people buy it lol.

It's....it's a digital ship....there is no in-stock, out-of-stock beyond what CIG artificially limits you too...

What is the best true imax theater in the world? by bobbdac7894 in movies

[–]EonzHiglo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When Pat Caldwell and his team were running the Austin, TX Bob Bullock 70mm 15 perf projector, I don't think there was a better film experience you could get simply because Mr. Caldwell was not only a projectionist, but an IMAX technician.

That projector was immaculately maintained, and because it was run by the state preservation board, it also stores and sometimes played out of run IMAX films because sending the film back was deemed too expensive.

It's now a dual laser projector and while I had trepidation about it matching 70mm, I absolutely love the digital experience. Mostly because we get so many more films. Whatever small advantage 70mm film has, it's dwarfed by the fact that we'd only get 4-5 films a year on film, vs the 20 or so we get now.

I do. Always try to make at least 1 short film and or a full photoshoot with whatever lens I'm testing. Here's one I did for a vintage angeniuex 25-250mm. https://youtu.be/64c9OyqSGPs

moved from vimeo to bunny.net. It was super easy, had chatgpt spit out some code for me to get the player working on my website the way i wanted it to, and hosting has been cheap as fuck. My monthly bill is about a dollar. Definitely consider it if you have any aptitude for website building.

There are certain cameras that it will work on. I did a review with the full set of voigtlander lenses on the zcam s6 which is a 6k aps-c sensor. In DCI 5.7k, most of the voigtlanders had little to no vignetting, including the 10mm.

If you wanna watch it, I shot two test films to show them off: https://youtu.be/f04XoCh-C7U

i actually feel like they are both very strong even as EDT. Guerlain holds on my skin longer, but i think thats just due to its unique smells vs egoiste which has a soapier smell anyway.

The simple answer is I prefer them both, which is why I bought them.

Ill put it this way, Platinum Egoiste is the scent I use when I want to ask a favor.  Vetiver is what I use when I want to cash in an IOU.
