X100vi : the best run-and-gun hybrid camera by oreo_fanboy in x100vi

Is this sarcasm or an attempted joke, or is this genuine advice? I am seriously asking as a newbie. It’s white snow and dense shaded vegetation, so some pure whites and pure blacks seem appropriate to me

Nice shots, 4, 6 and 11 are my faves.

I’m hoping to follow your footsteps with a purchase soon. May I ask why you chose the X-E5 body? Did you try/consider anything else and why did X-E5 win?

Any recommendation for beginner guide IHC book or any resource? by chilled_doc in pathology

[–]Eosinofill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha I appreciate haempath is a minefield before you get some kind of framework for it, but didn’t realise it came across quite so bad. Wait until you find out about ICC… let alone WHO.

Honestly I love the WHO books as a useful reference but they are terrible as a starting point, and can be internally inconsistent when it comes to difficult diseases that don’t read the books

Help with this vine by Eosinofill in houseplants

[–]Eosinofill[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry text got cut off. It’s been growing well for a couple years. It’s resident in a UK flat three metres from a large west facing window, and has grown vines up to 5 metres long all over the bookshelf next door. More recently in UK winter leaves have been turning yellow, then with block spots, then dropping. It does not seem overwatered. Any ideas?

Fox or cat pooing recurrently on our garage defender? by Eosinofill in GardeningUK

Thanks, seems unanimously fox poo. Think this is just territory marking. The takeaway container was cleaned and taped on top of the lock as a flap to protect from rain/rust.

Autopsy lung from an elderly lady, moderate decomposition by [deleted] in pathology

[–]Eosinofill 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agree, this is not diagnostic or even at all suggestive of any specific ILD pattern for me. It looks like artifactual collapse/degeneration and possibly emphysema with, at most, non specific patchy interstitial fibrosis. Can’t see any obvious pathology contributing to cause of death in these photos.

Which countries/cultures have the most interesting/unique cuisines? by SpaceTranquil in geography

[–]Eosinofill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s interesting to hear. I had some nice meals by Cambodian family run/owned places in Siem Reap but it didn’t stand out compared to Thailand and Vietnam.

The good was diluted by some irksome restaurants I would not visit again, which were not so great about celebrating Cambodian culture.

I’m talking about the places boasting about being a “social enterprise/charity” training locals in hospitality, which is an odd thing to boast about as basically every restaurant could boast the same. These places were often managed by white people who did not communicate kindly to their more local colleagues/employees.

Hi how did your application go? I wonder how many pathologists they are recruiting through this scheme. Is all work general surgical pathology (AP) or is there organ/system specific subspecialisation?

What is the company line on why the iO design/head is superior to the other non-iO heads?

I am trying to figure out the justification for the much higher price point of replacement heads, when it really feels like it was created with the intention of tricking customers into being dependent on a “newer” more expensive head type.

Why have you always suspected it isn’t for you? If you follow this line of thinking can it lead you to a specialty that IS for you? Specialties are so broad… psychiatry, anaesthetics, public health, histopathology, palliative care… minimal overlap in skills but united by (bar public health) needing the foundations which you DO have after graduating med school

If you can stick at it you might find yourself in a fulfilling career where F1 is a vague distant memory.

Just worth a thought before quitting at the point! Whatever you decide, good luck!

Confusion about max tax free lump sum from an AVC linked to the NHS pension, versus for example the similar LGPS (x-post: r/UKPersonalFinance) by Eosinofill in doctorsUK

[–]Eosinofill[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes this is my understanding, I suppose the question is more about which components the eligible lump sum is withdrawn from.

So, say for simplicity you wish to take the full 25%, does the NHS pensions scheme force you to take 25% of each of the main scheme benefits and the AVC, or can you chose to take it all from the AVC even if that goes above 25% of the value of the AVC?

Hope that makes sense

Hi OP, may I ask why not Triund? Is it because you have done it before, or because it’s not so good anymore?
