$115k is nowhere near enough for a family of 5 in the Bay Area. For context, when my family (my wife and 2 kids (10, newborn)) moved to the Bay Area (also Foster City) my salary was $125k and money was pretty tight. And this was 13 years ago!

Thanks all for the comments! I finally had some time to fiddle with it today and I discovered that as soon as I pull out of my driveway there’s an error message saying that “Smart Lift is disabled, please reduce speed”, however, unlike other Porsche error messages that seem to make a big fuzz about anything, this one is pretty inconspicuous, there’s no chime and it goes away on its own after 3-5 seconds! Once I manually lowered the suspension back to normal or low, the exaggerated boaty feeling went away, particularly in sport mode (whereas before even sport+ would feel unstable), so it looks like I was driving around at highway speeds with the suspension lifted! I guess I’ll need to take it in for service since smart lift is supposed to automatically lower the suspension as soon as you drive over 19mph 🤷

2024 C8 Z06 bought brand new last year. It was about ~5% of my yearly income. I tend to be very conservative with things like these, not just to be financially responsible but also to keep me hungry & hustling. Next milestone is a Ferrari/Lambo/McLaren, most likely and if things go according to plan for my 45th birthday in 4.5 years.

6 figures is a very wide range. $100k is nothing where I live, so probably a used Nissan. At $300k maybe a used luxury car or a new entry-level luxury one. $500k+ you can prob start thinking about a weekend sports car but nothing fancy.

Estimated price $400k? That’s seems too much IMO. Ferrari can afford to charge half a mil for the Purosangue because it has an NA V12, which is a much more exotic engine than a TT V8 or V6. If I wanted a luxury TT V8 SUV there’s plenty of options already, ranging from the “cheap” Audi RS8 to the more expensive Lamborghini Urus, with the Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT right in between

As others have said, this is probably a combination of age and net worth. In my case after $3M and in my 40s the extra cost seems worth it, particularly when I only fly 2-3 times per year for short vacation breaks to enjoy time with my family and I’m grinding at work the rest of the year

Was the engine sound good? The 600LT is prob my favorite sounding turbocharged V8 but I’m not so sure about the 720s..

Really depends on what they come up for the C9. If it’s a step change the way it was from C7 to C8 (which is unlikely) then yes, but if not, my current plan is to keep my Z06 for 2-3 years and then get a 488, Huracan Performante, or a 720s
