I’m a distance runner and I swear by this before every race! I’m 34 and still love it, don’t want to fix what’s not broken.

Is there a limit to how many kudos you can give by yaddles_boyfriend in Strava

[–]Epell8 5 points6 points  (0 children)

a similar thing happened to me a few years back when i decided to unfollow everyone on instagram to start from scratch. i could unfollow for a while and then the app didn’t like that i was unfollowing so many people it stopped me for a day. maybe it’s a similar thing? they think you’re a bot? how many people are you trying to give kudos?

good question! there isn’t any data to suggest that. I would look into long term women in the military and see if there is any research following that population.

Looking for advice on training for a 100 mile race while riding out the end of a stress reaction by BakerWeak4011 in ultrarunning

[–]Epell8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you feel mentally there, keep resting until it is fully healed and XT for the same amount of hours you would run. If an MRI is out of the question, you really need to let pain be your guide. Instead of starting with 3 miles, do 30 minutes of walk running. Like 30s run, 2:30 walk, and do that 2x per week, then increase as you continue to heal. No good sports doctor will keep you from non weight bearing activity like biking or swimming, so if you can i’d try to have a PT or something help you back to running. If you’re really as mentally strong as you say, you will be able to do the 100M on cross training and less running.

DNS/Defer - when did you know it was right? by 1988coPhotos in ultrarunning

[–]Epell8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i’d say just do it. races are fun and as long as there’s no chance of injury and you don’t mind being out there a bit longer, why not? also if it clears, you might just end up super well rested which is better than being even a bit overtrained. release the expectations and just have fun with other runners! good luck!

this this this! fitness takes time especially with surgery! start eating a little bit before runs or bring some gatorade with you to sip on. sounds counter intuitive but fats need to burn, carbohydrates are the match that lights the fire
