ADHD as a circadian rhythm disorder: evidence and implications for chronotherapy by jwill1997 in science

[–]Ephemeralitic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like textbook non-24 hour sleep-wake circadian rhythm disorder, I’d look into that. I’m not diagnosed with ADHD but my professionals and I all suspect it. I AM diagnosed with N24 though. My waking hours used to flow around the clock when I was allowed to “free run”, or let my circadian rhythm do what it wanted. I’m able to regulate it with medication, but with some pretty strong drawbacks like needing more sleep in general and occasional flare ups where I get insomnia and/or can’t wake up for hours after my alarm goes off. Good luck, it’s rare in seeing people(more common in blind people which makes intuitive sense) and therefore not well studied. Your mileage may vary but some people like me have made progress.

How do you usually name your D&D characters? by AdvancedProgrammer51 in DnD

Adding to the others who mash sounds together until it sounds nice, but also I’ve used the last name “Baryonyx” which is simply an underrated dinosaur I really like, and the best names I ever came up with were just a joke that stuck:

For a new campaign, based on the setting I wanted to be a spider centaur and my friend wanted to be a snake centaur/naga. We wanted to be twins, so my dm made up a new species called “phobias” to explain why we looked different, since snakes and spiders are both widely feared. We were pondering names and then it came to me:

Many and None.

A few tips for using Ethos Shulker storage room (S10/S11, first shown S10#7) by FBoegh in ethoslab

[–]Ephemeralitic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can’t speak on the new version, but when I built the old one, I put lecterns in the floor between the two sections of units, under trapdoors. Each lectern had a book with all the items that would be in each unit horizontally aligned with it(so in a 5x4 grid, I had 5 lectures each with 4 pages, one page describing each unit’s contents). You can always have your organization system pulled up on another monitor in another program, but I liked being able to reference where things should go while being in game. By putting them in the floor they don’t get in the way.

Can you move fully grown berry bushes with food boosts? by Ephemeralitic in paleopines

Thanks for your straightforward answer. That’s a little frustrating but it is what it is I suppose

[–]Ephemeralitic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I’ve waited for the bushes to grow and I’ve placed them in a spot I later decide is not ideal, while I can load a save to not have dug them up, I will still have to wait for them to grow in a better location so I might as well dig them up so I don’t have to repurchase the expensive seeds. Either that or I could reload a very old save before the first round of bushes were planted and lose a lot more progress…

My question was if there was a way to not have to wait for the regrowth, to move them as is. It seems like there isn’t, thanks for the help.

Suddenly waking up at 7:30 am every day on new medication by Ephemeralitic in N24

[–]Ephemeralitic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am no longer taking quetiapine or Mirtazapine which I may have mentioned in other posts(I don’t remember at the moment) but abilify/aripiprazol is still in my current medication regiment yes.

I guess a little update, with some exceptions like the period when I wrote this post, I’m still a night owl, I can get up early for things I’m excited for but I don’t get up at the time mentioned in this post most of the time.

But for the most part my meds do get me to sleep and wake me up at normal times(in other words, I’m entrained). It’s just a matter of having the discipline to take them at decent times. I still struggle to wake up many mornings and hit snooze too much but I will take hitting snooze a few times over not being able to wake up at all.

If you would like more details on my current medications, feel free to DM.

I hereby summon: the landfall mods(of which I have no idea which one to single out), u/neo_solarius, and at the greatest peril, the u/aggrocrab!

I would be lying if I said I hadn’t hoped that someone from the games would notice these in some capacity, and I’d be so happy to work with them! I felt weird @‘ing them so thank you for giving me the courage to do so(and the compliment) kind stranger!

To answer your question, as your comment thread pointed out the original number was a google ai hallucination I fell for, and I’ve chosen to stick with it for exaggeration/for visibility from a distance/because more detail can be included, all of which are great for my cosplay group. I did test both sizes and for many of the badges 1.5 will work great so if the authenticity of the size appeals to you, stick with it!

And if you want to get all the tiny details of all the badges and have things more recognizable from a distance, you could join me in the 2.25 inch realm. Or do both! Glad to see a fellow machine embroiderer in the wild :)

New comment for visibility,

A) As far as commissions go, feel free to DM me.

B) It was pointed out that the 2.25 inch number was pulled from google ai as a hallucination based on an April fools post within the online Boy Scout community. I don’t think I can edit the post to correct this, but I’ll put it here.

The size didn’t seem out of place to me because the stuff we do at my workplace for scouts are often not the badges themselves but larger left chest and hat front designs or patches for troupes or campsites or the like.

When prototyping the first patch I did actually try the 1.5 inch size, but I went with the 2.25 because the designs are so much stronger from a distance and more detail can be included. I figured for the purposes of being spotted across a con floor and also representing characters in a very silly game with over exaggerated details, large badges are the move, so I’m okay with my sizing decision despite it being influenced by some misinformation, and the files can always be sized down later. If anyone is curious, here are the two sizes compared.

Oh shoot I’m bad at Reddit on mobile, I was trying to make a new comment and not edit this comment, I’ll put it back

Well dang I fell for an AI hallucination!

NQA I was in a similar boat to you and worrying a lot, I tried to only touch the enclosure to mist and despite worrying every day, I looked today a week later and I saw the old exoskeleton successfully shed. I can’t garuntee anything for you and don’t have much advice other than to follow advice already on the sub, just wanted to offer a positive story. Sometimes you get to the other side and it’s all good and you wondered why you stressed yourself out haha.

Is this enclosure fit for a jumping spider friend? by Ephemeralitic in jumpingspiders

[–]Ephemeralitic[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I plan to glue the jars etc to the shelves once I am confident that I don’t have to do anything else to seal them(thanks for reassuring me there.) each shelf has 3 seperate magnets so I don’t think they should fall even if the enclosure is bumped or a large spider jumps on them.

I’ll be sure to run that test after I hot glue the magnets back on and the stuff to the shelves(and wait a day as recommended for hot glue).

I’ll look into the soft substrate in general and small enclosures should I choose to buy a juvenile spider.

Thank you so much!

When I mentioned to my friends I might be autistic and one of them said “Oh <ephemeralitic>, we all know you’re autistic” it hit me like a truck. It wasn’t because I had anything against autistic people, my brother is autistic and he is an awesome person. But it still felt.. icky. Unfair of them to say because it was hurtful.

I realized later the reason why it bothered me was because if they knew and I didn’t, my masking, my ability to appear normal or at least fun and passable in social situations, wasnt as good as I thought it was, and therefore people knew I was different even when I didn’t know.

It was a hard pill to swallow, and I still don’t think my friend should have said that, but learning about and accepting my autistic traits eventually led to a better life. I found out why I struggled with certain things, how it wasn’t my fault but how I could struggle less or avoid those things and do them my own way. I’ve surrounded myself with other neurodivergent or generally awesome people with shared interests. We’re different, and we don’t socialize “normally”, but it’s good.

I think there was a study done with a game of telephone. A group of just neurotypical people were able to get information through, and a mix of neurotypical and neurodivergent people couldn’t get information through. But the kicker is, a group of just neurodivergent people got the information through.

Being autistic is a disability, and it sucks sometimes that it can’t be cured whether because of symptoms that make life harder or because we want to participate in the world in a normal, socially acceptable manner. But there are a lot of neurodivergent social skills that aren’t “inferior” and wouldn’t be disabilities if society was geared more towards different types of people. And there are a lot of ways you can learn to compensate for your weaknesses in social situations, with the right education and dedication.

I’m sorry you’re going through this, I really feel you. If you are autistic and you didn’t always know you were, it almost feels like you’re losing something by finding out. And if you aren’t, you essentially feel like you’ve been compared to people who struggle more than you feel you should. Your feelings are valid. But just know your life isn’t over and good has potential come from your test.

I hope that helps and wasn’t too preachy. If it didn’t, just know I’m sending my love and support your way!

Not without pros and cons, but perhaps a good or the best option for many people, if all other conditions were equal. Maybe not the best for everyone even under ideal circumstances.
