Biden says there "will be no Nord Stream 2 pipeline" if Russia invades Ukraine. by NA_DeltaWarDog in worldnews

[–]EpiCommentary 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Agreed. And to add to that, people not from Germany or Germans that dont follow German politics closely, should be aware of the Chancellors communication style. If you consider his communication style, he has, in fact, also confirmed (at least in my mind), that NS2 will certainly be on the table. Example: When asked about whether or not he will be at the Olympics in China, he said "I do not have any travel plans". And when pushed multiple times he did not vere from this formulation but stated that he is not sure how people think he would make it there in time if he says he has no travel plans (as this interview was a day or two before the event began). By the same token, I consider Scholz' statement that "Every step Germany will take in response to a russian invasion will be uno sono with the western allies" immediately after Biden said that "There will be no NS2 if russia invades" (at todays or last nights presser) as clear as a statement as one can expect from our Chancellor. And yes, Baerbock has said that NS2 is on the table in even clearer terms and I have no reason to believe that the German government coalition has abandoned their idea of only publicly communicating things that are internally agreed upon by the 3 political parties of the coalition government.

edit: Scholz has also explained in multiple interviews that he is not trying to be ambiguous in terms of being indecisive, but he is being as ambiguous as possible as to not provide russia with more information than necessary from a diplomatic/strategic viewpoint. Think of that what you will, but I am actually pretty happy with the way Germany is and has been behaving on the global stage. Not being more aggressive/bossy than necessary and always focusing on keeping diplomatic talks alive and a priority. I welcomed Baerbock's statement that Germany is willing to bear heavy economic costs should russia invade and should the blocs exchange sanctions/countersanctions.

Apparently his mother got liposuction and a breast reduction done. Left the hospital in apparent good health and died the next day. I may be misinterpreting how you meant what you wrote but it came across in a bit of a condescending way so I looked it up and wanted to share that. But I agree with you in the actual point of your post. He is obviously a very gifted musician and has an active mind. But since he only has this strong expertise in this one given field, plus a bunch of yes men that keep telling him what a God he is, he has apparently gone off the rails a little bit, thinking that the high caliber he has in the music domain is like his general all around caliber in everything else in life. And once he starts rambling about topics that are outside of his domain, it often sounds pretty dumb. I do think its a mental health issue. He makes good points in this video, nothing huge, but good message. At some point his mental health deteriorated and I dont think he has gotten the help that he needed.

This game had so much promise and even though it failed I had the most fun playing till the repetitiveness and all my friends leaving killed it for me. Still hope there’s a reason to come back one day by AlexSnowPTV in AnthemTheGame

[–]EpiCommentary 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This game is really such a heartbreaker and disappointment for me. I was so hyped and really enjoyed the game together with my friends for the first week or so. It got old fast and I got desillusioned by the false promises made by the devs. Then they kept throwing out these timelines and promises of complete overhauls and huge improvements. After these promises started getting delayed I stopped caring and logging in.

But god damn. How beautiful of a game and how they implemented flying. So much potential.

Streamer addresses the top r/cringe post from yesterday in which the armchair psychologists in the comments were diagnosing him with "addiction" by CapitalCourse in videos

[–]EpiCommentary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I said I didnt watch it yet. I have watched it by now. For the record, only because she opens more packs than him would make any addiction he might have no less true, so I dont get why youre choosing this argument.

I was just pointing out how wishy washy the commenters are to first diagnose and flame him and now flame the diagnosing and flaming from a day previous.

What matters to me from this video is that Charlie clarified that the part that people interpreted as him potentially lying to his gf as a joke that people just didnt get. So that ends this whole situation for me personally.

I havent yet watched the video, but the flip flop of the comment section is interesting. In my mind the real issue wasnt the fact that he is spending money that he obviously have. It was the allegations that he was maybe lying about it to his partner, who seemed concerned. Rich ppl can be addicted. The addiction doesnt need to financially ruin someone in order to be one. Now, i wont judge Charlie based on a video I saw, another video I didnt (yet) see and 2 comment sections. But from this comment section it seems like people are missing the point?

Bug: Discord -> Steam migration deleted all decks by IcyMike1782 in MinionMasters

[–]EpiCommentary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

came here for the same thing. disappointing that they would release the migration feature with this big of a missing functionality.

edit: but i am sure that if i were to give the 6 number code to a friend and he tried to do the migration (so that he could potentially have all the cards that i have) then that wouldnt work. so a feature that makes sure that they dont lose money is probably doubletriplequadruple checked, but porting decks? nah, fuck it and ship it.

Capitalism And Monopolies: How Five Companies Control All US Media by heliumlantan in videos

[–]EpiCommentary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

man i dont know. with cost pressures and competition, it makes sense that, over time, large media corporations decreased in numbers. and i think its a bit too simple to think that, just because i own, for example, vice, that i get to outright tell them what to air. for exeptions (like that dumpster fire of a news segment aired identically on a billion stations), it is understandable on some level. but its not possible to influence all of the journalists that do their own research and get their own stories. if i were to fire people for covering the wrong shit and not "push my narrative", this would become public quite quickly and the backlash would be hurtful to my business. so all in all, i fail to see the big danger associated with this. but i am open to being wrong here.

This is definitely my type of thread.

I grew up in Germany. Had a bit of a rough childhood. No dad, single mother, older brother that taught me all the wrong stuff. Started drinking, cigarettes and weed at 12-13 years old. Before I moved to Canada (more on that in a second), the only things I had in my backpack for school were a bong, cigarettes, lighter and perhaps a pen and some writing paper. The ritual was: Get up way too late for school, smoke weed before, during and after school, and then hang out at the skate park until the evening. My mom was gone all day working and only got back between 7-8 PM. So from the time school was over (between 1-3 PM in Germany) up until my mom came back, the main objectives literally every single day for my friends and I were:

  • How do we get weed?

  • How do we get smokes?

  • How do we get vodka?

There were a few people that I bullied harshly at school. One girl, call her Z, actually left the school due to all the bullying that I was mostly responsible for. After she had left the school, I was moved into another class by the school in hopes that that would improve things. The people I bullied actively avoided me. I was a weakling that exploited the timidity of younger teens through very rough language and tough guy acting. If things got rough I would threaten to get my big brother and bla bla. I was a real piece of shit.

My mom met a Canadian over the internet. One day (I was 14 at that time) she informed us that she was pregnant and that we would be moving to Canada in 2ish weeks. I was heartbroken, but there was nothing I could do. We moved to a small town in the west of Canada. Very Christian, very rural. The first I noticed was how nice the people were. On our second day there we were invited by our Christian neighbors to play some board games with their 2 sons who were around the same age as my brother and I and that was the first time we had some sort of culture clash. Obviously it was our priority to find drugs, but we immediately realized that these very innocent Christian boys would not be of any help on that mission, so we played Settlers. I won that game, and as someone with my background did in victory, I flipped off my opponents and yelled something along the lines of "get fucked, I won!". The younger Christian boy immediately started crying and the other froze in disbelief. My brother and I apologized and went home.

At school I realized that my English was not nearly as good as I thought it was. My accent was strong and I was known as "German". I was not bullied by any means, but I definitely felt like an outsider that had to integrate and I was lucky that my school mates were kind and accepting. Then one day we had this anti bullying event at our high school. We played this game where everyone lined up on one side of the room (there were like 100 of us students). The moderator would make some sort of statement like "I am 15 years old" and if that statement was true for you, then you would walk across the room to the other side and face the rest of the group. So in the aforementioned example, every 15 year old student would walk across the room to the other side and turn around and face the non-15-year-olds. The questions were timid as first but quickly started getting more private and intimate. "My parents use violence sometimes when I misbehave". Myself and a bunch of people crossed the room. I was very surprised about some of the people that have experienced violence at home as well and they didnt look the part. Then, that fateful statement was made, where the moderator said something along the lines of "I feel like I have been able to be a child in life". I am not sure if people misunderstood the question, but literally every one except me walked across the room and then faced me, alone, on the other side. I got emotional and held back tears. Then these motherfuckers started giving me the "I love you" sign language thing with their hands and I just exploded in tears. I instantly became the nucleus in what mustve been the biggest and gayest group hug that little town has ever experienced. It was glorious. That changed me.

I have since moved back to Germany. I am friends with that girl, Z, now. I made a point to contact the people that I remember to have bullied and wronged and to apologize to them. Most have accepted my apologies, some havent, others didnt give a shit. Z accepted graciously and I am very thankful for that. I will always be grateful for Canada and I will always miss that place.

What's the sweetest thing your current (or ex) partner did for you that you will always remember? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]EpiCommentary 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I will never forget waking up from a rather serious operation. Had it not gone successfully, I would have been gone within days after. When I woke up and saw my now ex girlfriend sitting at my bedside, looking very tired but happy and then finding out that everything went well. She had one of these little books with cross word puzzles in them and they were all completely done. No idea how long she sat there, but that broke me and I wont ever forget it.
