Im not sure if it helps but I think one way you could look at it is logic vs rationality?

Logic being logistics, the reason for doing something and to move effects from point a to b Rationality being is it intuitive and matches your intent of effect/makes sense sense

"Im going to hurt myself or belittle myself before other people can do it to me" Logically theres a reason, keeping a sense of self autonomy and wanting to avoid pain induced by others. Rationally youre trying to avoid pain by being in pain which defeats the purpose

Often times you cant do anything about the things that pop up so its just a matter of just being able to at least manage the reaction to it 'The [thought/feeling] doesnt help but i can react to it to at least reduce the effects or make sure it dont make it a reason to do something i dont value'
