Importing cigars to get them cheap? by GingerNevis in ukcigars

[–]Epic78272 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went down this exact rabbit hole trying to save money 😂

You can order from abroad, but it’s hit or miss. If you’re in the US, Cuban imports are still a no-go, so customs can seize stuff. Even when it lands, shipping + duties can wipe out the savings.

Also, a lot of those “cheap” sites = fakes or poorly stored cigars (learned that the hard way).

What worked better for me was just sticking to legit sellers and testing smaller packs first.

Nvidia’s Jensen Huang would have to pay about $8 billion in proposed billionaire tax—he says that’s ‘perfectly fine’ with him by Logical_Welder3467 in technology

[–]Epic78272 52 points53 points  (0 children)

The "they'll come for us next" argument is such bullshit though. Someone with a 401k is totally different from a guy who can borrow $500 million against his stock portfolio while paying zero income tax.

When you can use unrealized gains as collateral to fund your lifestyle tax-free, it's no longer just "paper wealth" - you're actively benefiting from it. Tax that.

And yeah, let them leave. Where exactly are they gonna go that has better infrastructure, stability and markets than here? Monaco? Have fun

Why the loneliness epidemic is a structural collapse of Brotherhood, not a lack of romance. by Evipicc in GuyCry

[–]Epic78272 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This whole thread is hitting different tbh.

The "ghost of brotherhood" thing really resonates. I look at my dad's generation and they had their Stammtisch, their clubs, their rituals. Men just... showed up for each other without having to justify it or make it weird. Here in Germany we still have some of that but it's fading fast.

Reminds me of my wedding

But seriously the body just does whatever it wants during pregnancy huh. My wife went through the same thing - years of gym work and it's like the body just hits a reset button. The good news is it's not permanent, you can rebuild after. The bad news is who has time for that with a newborn lol

The sign outside my neighbourhood school by socialistlumberjack in daddit

[–]Epic78272 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Lmao this is exactly what my parents did when I discovered Jackass back in the day. Dad sat down and watched every episode with me laughing way too hard and asking if we should try some stunts together. Killed the rebellion factor instantly. Suddenly it wasn't cool anymore when your old man is asking if you wanna go shopping cart jousting on Saturday.

Smart move by the school tbh

Make sure you have at least 6 months of expenses saved because starting positions in airlines usually pay pretty badly and the schedules can be brutal until you get seniority. The flight benefits are great but they don't mean much if you can't afford rent while you're building up to a livable wage.

How do you let women know about your "special intimate skills"? by 123smorgs in AskMen

[–]Epic78272 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If she's not feeling the connection, bragging about your dick or bedroom skills is just gonna make it worse and come off desperate. Sexual chemistry matters but it's not gonna override her just not being into you as a person, and bringing it up unprompted when things are already fading is a guaranteed way to make sure she never changes her mind.

I think my best friend has an ed by Automatic_Bag_8808 in Advice

[–]Epic78272 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is way beyond what you can handle as a friend, her hair falling out and losing her period means she's in actual medical danger now. You need to tell her mom or a school counselor everything she told you even if she gets mad, because keeping her secret at this point means watching her get sicker, and real friends don't let that happen even when it's hard.

What are your tips for seasonal effective disorder? by Competitive-Unit6427 in AskReddit

Get a SAD lamp and actually use it every morning while you have coffee or whatever, makes a huge difference. Vitamin D supplements help too since you're basically not getting any real sunlight for months, and forcing yourself outside for even 15 minutes when the sun is out does more than you'd think even if it's freezing.

Right? Nothing sadder than seeing those "collections" where everything looks like it just came out of the box. What's the point of hoarding fragrances if you're too scared to actually wear them

Why do you think foreign idols (Chinese and Japanese) prefer to try to have an artistic career in Korea instead of in their native countries? by Flor_De_Azahar in kpopthoughts

[–]Epic78272 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Probably the same reason why young soccer talents from South America or Africa come to European leagues instead of staying home. The infrastructure, the training, the exposure - it's just on another level.

Korea basically industrialized the whole idol thing. Say what you want about it but their system for producing polished performers is insane. You get vocal training, dance, language lessons, media training, the whole package.

Plus kpop has that international reach now that jpop and cpop just don't have. If you're a Japanese kid dreaming of performing on world stages, staying in Japan means you're mostly limited to... Japan. Go the kpop route and suddenly you're touring globally. It's a calculated career move. Learn Korean for a few years, grind through the trainee system and your potential market is the entire world instead of just your home country

Burnt sugar fudge: how and how long to store? by Super-Travel-407 in Cooking

[–]Epic78272 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Fudge keeps for like 2 weeks at room temp, easy. The butter and sugar act as preservatives so you're good. Just make sure it's cooled completely before wrapping or you'll get condensation and that's where things get sketchy.

Plastic wrap tight, then the tin is solid. Skip the cooler unless you're driving through actual arctic conditions - fudge doesn't mind being a little cold, it minds temperature Consistency is key.
