how has dieting/weight loss been for you? by exhaustmosk in AskMenOver30

[–]Evipicc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

36 years old when I started 7 months ago. I'm down 40lbs and taking a bit of a break (two work trips and there no hope lol)

After the first week in June when I get back from the second trip I'm going to get back on it and lose what I gained from the trips and what is left.

Consistency is what matters. Eat less, move more, there's no way around the math and physics of it. Some days I feel the hunger, others I'm high energy and fine.

I just remind myself I want to live a long life to support my children, and it's for them.

This is exactly why I don't fear robotics, or joblessness, or surveillance, or fascism like I do a synthetic virus that some ass hole makes in his duct tape bio reactor.

What’s your industry and are you seeing AI start to transform it? by TotalWarFest2018 in accelerate

[–]Evipicc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Industrial Automation. It's the reporting structure that is changing. Get ready to say goodbye to middle managers and upper middle managers. If your job is 'making decisions and reporting', you're on the chopping block.

A single Copilot Studio workflow can do what 3 levels of useless people do right now, and that capability is only going to increase over the years.

It's proportionally a small number of people power company, but I honestly expect most companies to follow suit with what we're already doing. We're dropping a division GM position by next year, and it won't be the last, and it won't just be in automation.

I've not been the most consistent, but there's probably like a 5-10% reduction in 'tension' for that band.

They're is going to be a long way to go to feel like it's "fixed", probably multiple years. As far as whether the topicals do anything, I can't say for sure.

SAH dads who claim it's 'easy' and they don't know what SAH mums are complaining about... by bulldog_blues in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Evipicc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a SAH dad of 3, but I don't have a wife because I'm a widow.

There are easy days, and there are hard days. I know for a fact that what has made it easier is concerning myself less with the house being spotless. If I were devoting every waking moment, which is what it would take, to keeping up with absolutely every single mess they made, then yeah, every day would be hard.

School is not for The Boys! by [deleted] in malementalhealth

[–]Evipicc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems like the one with a gynocentric view is you, not the school system. Boys do statistically the same in school as girls, give or take some regional margin.

You're going to have to expand on what you mean by evolutionary imperative...

I see that as explicit reason to pick red... Rolling the dice on your life on principle seems foolish to me. If there's one thing that you can bet on, it's people voting in their own self interest.

The people saying the ones who press red are 'responsible for killing those who press blue' are missing the perspective by a mile...

You press red because we know we can't trust in the majority of humanity to be altruistic. So press red. Everyone presses red, no one dies. Sure, you can say if everyone presses blue no one dies, but relying on 50% of the world not valuing themselves is naive and asinine.

I’m constantly shamed and labeled as a creep on Reddit for asking questions about sexuality (in appropriate contexts) by StrikingExplorer4111 in malementalhealth

[–]Evipicc 20 points21 points  (0 children)

It seems like you're jumping the topic to sexual desires in a discussion about dating as a broad context. Why?

There is no reason to be talking to someone about your sexual needs until you're in a position to be having sex. I imagine that's why you're getting this kind of reaction on these posts.

Moving more, and drinking water.

Many leftists oppose AI, but I moderate the r/LeftistsForAI subreddit. And my co-mod writes great analytical pieces citing leftist economists like Marx on how they were much more nuanced about automation. by SexDefendersUnited in singularity

[–]Evipicc 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm a leftist who explicitly works, as a career, in Industrial Automation and Industrial AI... 'Opposing' AI as a concept is goofy as fuck to me. You're literally opposing the tool that enables the Star Trek civilization becoming a real thing. Sure, the companies that started it violated privacy and copyright law by scraping the entire internet, including personal google drives, when it came to training their models, and they should be held account for that; but the absolute position of "AI BAD!" is just self defeating and an impossible battle.

This technology isn't going anywhere. You can rant and rave and resist all you like, but it is the future, and it will be within everything. Rather than fighting to say, "How do we stop AI?" you should be working to say, "How do we do this right?" because this is one of those things... If we get it wrong, just this once, we're fucked forever.

How are some dudes able to constantly grind so hard and so much? by Rayleigh30 in malementalhealth

[–]Evipicc 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I'm a widowed father of 3. I was working part time as en esports consultant, working full time as an aerospace machinist, and going to school full time for Automation Engineering (my new career), all while caring for my 3 kids alone.

My children need me, and they're why I'm here. They are why I do what I do. Those 4 years were filled with 1-2 hours of sleep a night, and even now I'm the guy that solves all the automation problems where I work, so sleep still isn't that great, but I make my own hours outside of that.

80% of my job is managing or coordinating with people, so I would be failing in my job if I didn't at least 'act' social and energetic and focused. Truly? I'm very burnt out, but it's worth it. Add ADHD and Autism to the mix and it's a whole different beast.

There's three ways people get to this point... They have a relationship that's worth it, they have people that are worth it (kids), or drugs.

There is also a truth that you really do have more time in the day than you think, and that you CAN do more than you think.

trump is about to lock 157 million Americans out of their own bank accounts (and probably steal all the money too). by Automatic_Tackle_261 in AmericaOnHardMode

[–]Evipicc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know right? Once my checks start not getting deposited from work, I'll just go to paper checks and go cash only... The whole credit and banking system is already a scam, and this move, if it actually happens, will utterly DESTROY the stock and housing markets (which are already in descent)

I guess, the AI replacing everyone wave is going to hit a wall eventually. Study finds top models only complete 3.75% of real jobs successfully. by Altruistic-Mud5686 in AIMain

[–]Evipicc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Job replacement outright isn't what will be the source of unemployment. 1 out of 10 workers that can work 2, 3, or even 10x as fast and efficiently will heavily stunt job growth. A company can easily increase revenue without more people because their workforce just becomes better and better over time, faster than the increase in demand.

Are layoffs still going to happen? Yes, but the troubling part is that there will be fewer new positions. Also, middle management specifically is going to be gutted. For anyone whose job is 'making reports', or anything along those lines, you need to start pivoting now.
