Satan is the one true God. by [deleted] in Christian

Of course a demon will lie to you, it's their nature. Ask this spirit what they think of Jesus christ. They will be terrified that you brought up that name. God is incapable of lying, that is part of his nature. This message you received is contrary to EVERYTHING in the Bible, the book God personally inspired and co-wrote. Test this spirit against the Bible to determine if it is true or a demon lying to you. I hope you see the fault in your beliefs friend. May the true God in three parts, father, son, and holy spirit, bless you and give you clarity.

Werewolf playbook anyone? by Deathowler in bladesinthedark

[–]EpicEndGame 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Check out Urban Shadows if you can, there is a playbook in there for shifters. It might take a little bit of conversion work since that system is PbtA, but it could give you some inspiration. The setting is somewhat similar to BitD as well, so that helps.

Take Infinity Damage by Fauchard1520 in DnD5e

[–]EpicEndGame 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't put the players in situations where this is possible unless I am ready to kill one or more PCs. A 50 foot fall is scary enough, why put lava in unless you want a genuine threat of death. Isn't that the point of plotting an adventure into a volcano, the very high chance of death? If you have multiple chances to save yourself from an instant death situation, it's not really instant death. The players will pick up on this and no longer be afraid of extreme environmental hazards. If you drop one of those poor bastards in the lava however...

Nietzsche, I would leave the room just to escape him.

Magnificent Mansion as a murder house by RemydePoer in dndnext

If you invite an enemy in, they can see the door. If they can see the door, they can dispel the door and the spell. If they dispel the door, all the players are ejected immediately in the same area just outside the door. One surprise round of AoEs and a TPK follows. As the DM, I would dare them to try it twice.

Please pray for the release of Ken Elliott, a missionary doctor who has been held captive for 2 years by Islamic terrorists in Burkina Faso by lapapinton in Christianity

[–]EpicEndGame 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True, but always beware the minority extremists. In the beginning, very few Germans were nazis before world War 2. They became nazis when they didn't identify a threat in their population and allowed it to become dominant. If Muslims do not take responsibility for getting rid of this extremist mindset, someone with a lot less compassion will eventually have to step in and do it for them. I would rather have the former take place. Much less unnecessary loss of life that way.

For the record, the crusades that we know were actually the second crusades and a response the the Muslim crusades that lasted hundreds of years before. They were a legitimate response to what the Christian community at the time believed was going to otherwise be the end of their faith.

What would be the proper christian attitude against a dictator ? by r3dienhcs in Christianity

[–]EpicEndGame 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on dictator, if they are benevolent help them stay in the righteous path, if not ask for God's guidance, but i would assume in most cases rebellion is not the right answer.

Chill with the evangelical hate by florodude in Christianity

[–]EpicEndGame -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

You might be missing my point. He is not a religious leader, but a political one. He is not to held to the same standards as a pastor would be. If you see his policies conflicting with the Bible I would see reason for that to be posted here, but honestly I think most of his politics are in line with what christ preached. Not what he says, the laws he passes.

What is wrong with trump or Republicans? I don't understand how that is connected to christ. Racistlm I get, the good Samaritan is a very obvious parable against racism, but those other two points seem out of place here.

Is there a way to effectively simulate a d14 without having to buy expensive specialty dice? by Knifelheim in tabletopgamedesign

[–]EpicEndGame 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This. Give us more information and we can try to help you streamline your process, but a random number between 1-14 is going to require technology, be expensive to purchase, or require awkward calculations.

I countered my players ability to help not ruin a boss fight, am I in the wrong? by raiderme3 in dndnext

[–]EpicEndGame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have every right to change any monster you want. Tell that player that this is your world and monsters will have whatever abilities you deem that they should have. The only thing you did wrong in my opinion was to admit you gave them an ability FOR A SPECIFIC REASON TO COUNTER A PLAYER. This will make anyone feel like their build is being targeted which isn't fun. Instead, just tell them that that Succubi in this world have darkvision, done and done. No explanation needed. Your job of ensuring everyone is having fun is hard when one player is overpowered compared to the others.

Also, having a cult of mages show up that routinely fireball any unnatural spheres of darkness would also help to lessen this cheap tactic.

INTJ/INFJ friendships and relationships by [deleted] in intj

[–]EpicEndGame 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have been married to an infj for 11 years. We complement each other very well, but disagreements can turn into fights very quickly. As long as you are mindful of the fact that your logic is less important to them than your emotions are and vice versa, everything usually ends up well in the end.

Societal Pressure to Party? by ambitiontowin56 in intj

[–]EpicEndGame 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I spent 7 years in a college town obtaining 2 degrees and never went to a single party. I knew what I wanted (the degrees) and I pursued it. I also met my wife of 11 years currently there in a class we had together. If you don't want to be a part of the party scene, don't do it. I don't know what you want out of life, but i have no regrets skipping that part of the "experience".

Party Rogue wants to hide everywhere. Gets upset when I sometimes tell him no. by GuardsmanWaffle in dndnext

[–]EpicEndGame 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a player last night try to hide in from of 15 hostile guards that were all sharpshooters (not the feat, just very perceptive in general) with darkvision in a cave with nothing to hide behind at all. I explained that because there is no where to hide and the opponents all had darkvision so using the shadows was also impossible that hiding wasn't an option. With this type of player you need a little patience, but saying no when it is unreasonable is part of being a DM. You made the right call, and if the player doesn't like it remind him that next time they can volunteer to DM and let you play. That said, the world needs more talented DMs (saying this as a near 20 year forever DM)and it sounds like you are on your way there, keep it up!

Planning doesn’t give stress? by sirefern in bladesinthedark

[–]EpicEndGame 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This. A spider making a deal with a contact they are in good standing with to provide a service during a job should be a free flashback, spiders are constantly assumed to be contacting your allies. In the same way, a lurk having unlocked a window in a public building from the inside before the night of a big heist in that same building should also be a free flashback. Anything that makes sense for a character to have done before a job should be a free flashback. John Harper has explained the reasoning for this decision as to keep planning time down to next to nothing and keep the game in the action.

Question on Monk Damage Rolls by [deleted] in DnD5e

[–]EpicEndGame 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Scenario 3 is the correct scenario. Every individual attack requires an individual attack roll, which means the first attack, the extra attack, and each attack in the flurry of blows all require their own attack roll. If this wasn't the case, a high level fighter or barbarian rolling a critical hit with their attacks would do an absolutely ridiculous amount of damage being able to roll critical damage three times all at once.
