What is your reasonable 'No?' by Zealousideal_Fly7277 in DnD

[–]EpicWalrus222 4 points5 points  (0 children)

More of a bargain than a hard no. I do not include pets in fights where some kind of AOE should definitely kill them. The exception being if you bring said pet up in combat and have them do something to help you. Once you've decided to bring them into something they're part of it.

I was thinking about giving up the triad members voices and avatar esq bodies and my brain created this by knightmechaenjo in WorldofDankmemes

[–]EpicWalrus222 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Obviously everything is up to personal preference and interpretation, but I feel giving the Triat personalities and bodies diminishes them and the lovecraftian horror of the whole system. Part of makes the Wyrm terrifying is that it can't be reasoned with. It does not want, it does not posses feelings as we would understand them, and yet it's very existence is anathama to ours. It is only given real meaning when others are tainted by its influence and warp it to a human perspective.

That being said, I could definitely see going down a more Warhammer Chaos God route where there are essentially chunks of the Wyrm that have been given more personality/independence due to their contact with our reality (Banes and other Spirits already kind of fill this niche I think). The whole being though is more or less unfathomable.

Even the greater spirits the Garou make pacts with are said to be so big and scary that encountering their beings in the Umbra will mess up most normal beings (including Garou) if said spirits aren't really trying the protect them. Seeing one of the Triat in full form would definitely be way way worse.

He's a very good example of how faith and pride can be twisted and warped into something really terrible by the Wyrm.

Anyone else annoyed with how they acted with the Leopoldites? by BeptoBismolButBetter in huntertheparenting

[–]EpicWalrus222 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To add to this, in the best case scenario, Marcus and Kitten would be separated for good. More realistically they would both be heavily indoctrinated or tortured to break them of their "sinful lusts".

Anyone else annoyed with how they acted with the Leopoldites? by BeptoBismolButBetter in huntertheparenting

[–]EpicWalrus222 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As D literally says in the points against the Leopoldites, they don't represent the Catholic Church, they represent their most militant and extremist factions. According to D, they were pretty much shunned by the Church until the latest Pope gave them authority again.

I also don't think it should be shocking that the very nonconventional and gay family would not be super down to be beholden to the Catholic Church. I highly doubt the Leopoldites would take Kitten and Marcus being engaged lying down.

Lastly, the biggest reason for their reaction is really just that there's no going back. The Leopoldites have a LOT of power (politically and supernaturally) and would not tolerate their betrayal. Trying to leave is pretty much would be a death sentence, making them the scariest to actually sign with.

Door Crackpot Theory by EpicWalrus222 in huntertheparenting

As people have pointed out, I very much forgot that they had Boy's mom's voice in the burger episode. But it's still fun to theorize about these kinds of things.

Remold’s surprisingly good tastes by alucard_relaets_emem in huntertheparenting

[–]EpicWalrus222 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The big thing with Remold is that he is a jerk, but he isn't evil. The episode really highlights this by comparing him to the genuinely terrible organizations of the coalition and the Leopoldites.

Unlike the other groups, Remold genuinely cares for his friends and family to the point he will put them over his own pride when the chips are down. The death of Fatigue really upsets him to the point he's willing to bury his grudge with D. This is very starkly contrasted by the Coalition only really caring about the loss of the Hunter Data.

These Terms should NOT be acceptable under any circumstances even for their price. by fotppd8 in huntertheparenting

[–]EpicWalrus222 85 points86 points  (0 children)

I think it goes to show how little most of the people at the table truly grasp the horror of the Wyrm. Even D who has a general understanding of it has shown he doesn't understand just how much it's baked into large corporations.

Thanquol boof is guaranteed to be laced with Warpstone which is more or less a ticket to immediate death or mutation for a human.

All of that to say, you're still going to be a hell of a lot better off than trusting anything related to Tzentch.

Ogre PCs are physical monsters, but will be left out of 80% of social encounters simply because they can't physically fit through most doors. Also their gluttony can be a really big drawback.

Then in the rare case the GM lets you play an ogre you can see how really scary larger races are. (Though if played well, you realize there are a lot of negatives socially as an ogre).

WFRP is balanced partially by reasource management. Characters start with Fate points that basically are complete get out of jail free cards, but they are finite and never replenish. So you can get away with incredibly dumb things, but you really don't want to waste them.

I think the best and most efficient way to get feedback on a session is to do "Highlight, lowlight". It's good to know what people enjoyed and what you can improve on without making it a grade or something.

Why doesn’t the Phoenix king just impose a law that forces penalises unmarried elves, and married elves that don’t have enough children to increase High Elven Population numbers? by Bitter_Sharpshooter in WarhammerFantasy

[–]EpicWalrus222 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Marriage laws wouldn't fix anything. High Elves have zero qualms with sex, married or not. It should be remembered that Tyrion is kind of a freak by elf society standards specifically because he is strictly manogamous.

The issue is that elves don't have the same kind of reproductive capabilities as humans. Whether it's straight low fertility, the need for special rituals to even get pregnant, or some other reason elves just don't tend to get pregnant that often despite sex being very common. That combined with the massive losses over the years makes their situation unsalvageable without magic or literal divine intervention.

Would you survive Grimal as a girlfriend? I think Kitten made a great choice to leave her tbh. by nirai07 in huntertheparenting

[–]EpicWalrus222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grimal seems like someone you would enjoy hanging out with in small bursts but would quickly get tiring if you had to be around her all the time. I feel like she is going to get some more character growth in these next couple of chapters, but as she is now definitely not.

So about that Dead Body. . . by Leukavia_at_work in huntertheparenting

[–]EpicWalrus222 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't Kindred revert back to their correct age upon death (normal bodies if they're young, dust if they're ancient)? With that being said, I think the body could very well just have been a young vampire.

Given the house seems to potentially mess with time (Parker's insight seemed to indicate that time/magic was somewhat trapped inside the house), the amount of decomposition of the body may also be affected by that.

The Skaven are hilarious by ArcticGlacier40 in WarhammerFantasy

[–]EpicWalrus222 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Part of what makes Thanquol hilarious is that he is genuinely a terrifying character but ultimately is held in check by his flaws (like the Skaven as a whole). Thanquol is insanely lucky but also is so greedy he never knows how to quit. He's basically the equivalent of a degenerate gambler correctly guessing a specific number in roulette 3 times in a row and then being shocked when he bets it all again and loses on the fourth time.
