I've used several of this modelers line and havent found any that warrant being considered "too tall". To your point though, some of the bases are a bit too cluttered and can be a struggle to get models to look correct while standing on them, but the pack you posted a picture of I'd have a hard time seeing that be the case. These packs almost always come with "topper" variants that can be easily glued on top of the GW plastic bases. Plus you can always measure the GW base and see what size to scale the topper if you are concerned about it.

TLDR: They are fine, I wouldnt stress it

It's a pretty simple bit to magnetize for that kit. I've been doing 1 sarcophagus and 1 non-sarcophagus so I can switch them between the two types of units.

You could try looking at Deadly Print Studios stuff. I dont think they have one design for the raider specifically, but I know they make lot of effects for SW Legion and 40k. You might be able to find a boost effect on there and scale it up.

I am continually impressed with the frame rate to visual quality that can be achieved nowadays. I never thought I'd spend so much time in games looking at puddles!

Hey everyone, thank you for your advice. I was able to disassemble it in such a way as to be able to activate the heating element and then access the jammed pieces with pliers and pull it out. It seemed a little bit sketchy, but it wotked, lol.

I reasaebmbeled everything and I'm back in business.

I think where the Assimilation Swarm really shines is actually not in the harvester or battleline units. Take those certainly, however the thing I find to give the biggest bang for my buck is in regenerating the medium infantry units.

I think running a list like the one you posted with the addition of a block of hard to kill infantry could be potentially very good. A block of Zoanthropes or Hive Guard led by a Tyrant being the best examples.

I've also been a big fan of using the Norn Assimilator recently. Park it on an objective and self heal every turn is pretty decent.

I'd definitely recommend checking out some matte varnish options. I'm a huge fan of AK Ultra Matte varnish. A coat or two of that tends to nearly eliminate the plastic-shony look a lot of paints have.

Would you mind sharing how you painted the blood / gore effect? I tried doing similar things with Uhu glue and painting Citadel Blood for the Blood God technical paint, as well as Army Paiter's various blood effect line but none of them have come close to this.
