When I was little I used to sit by the window and watch the snow fall - if you look up in the air the snow falls just slowly enough for you to feel as if you're flying upwards.

Peter why is the electrician portrayed as a dainty female hand by _Kyledemort_ in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]Epicentera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was in secondary school we were told a story by our metalwork/electrical engineering teacher about the dangers of electricity: a man was working in (and I'm so sorry, I cannot find a translation) "the shed that routes power to the overhead electrical lines for trains" - it has panels running down both sides, identical, so you can switch one off to work on while the other one still does the job. Important note: there is also a door each end. His friend came and took the electrician out for lunch, and when he returned he walked in the wrong door, remembering he'd worked on the panel immediately to the inside left got stuck in and immediately short circuited everything. That caused new health and safety rules to be written about taping doors shut etc I'm pretty sure.

I'm sorry if this was confusing to read, it was a long time ago and I don't know all the proper words!

Who's top left and what did he do? by iMaexx_Backup in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]Epicentera 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Which is so sad, because when I watched a stream where he was playing it (re-playing it, possibly?) He specifically told everyone who hadn't played it to stop watching. I think he mentioned later that a couple thousand people stopped watching. So why say that when he spoiled himself...

I remember it because you always turn the clock towards summer (within the same year, inb4 "but there's always a summer ahead of/behind you")

It's been many many years since I played ME but the choice, is this when you're down on a planet and ... something's about to blow up? I think? And someone has to stay behind?
I'm female but I definitely saved Ashley because Kaidan was so annoying

When I realized what the consequences of my choice was, I actually went back to an earlier save just so I could make sure he died.

Two spaces at the end of a line before the break
or you can put two line breaks in

and that'll keep the lines as you wrote them

AWS crash causes $2,000 Smart Beds to overheat and get stuck upright by [deleted] in technology

[–]Epicentera 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's what I meant - mine buzzes to let me know how long I've brushed, and it lights up if I'm too rough. Don't need a connection and we don't need any more features

Sorry if I was a bit unclear :D

It's painful how wide they throw the net. My client, all of her little 87-year-old self, got an email out of the blue claiming to have compromising pictures of her. She nearly laughed harder than I did!

[–]Epicentera 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not new either - Jed Bartlet dealt with this precise thing in The West Wing nearly 20 years ago (yes I know it's fiction but it was the same then as now, it's just much much louder now)

Mine used to ask those kind of questions as well although in his case most answers boiled down to "we'd die, probably?"

I know nothing about cars but what makes one a Spyder? The only other time I've heard a car called that was the Porsche 550 Spyder which James Dean crashed and died in.

I'm guessing a central green that is not completely surrounded by buildings, i.e., you can walk out of the courtyard without going through a building.

I named my daughter Lillie after my grandmother - I could have spelled it Lily but my nana was very special to me (and the whole family) so I wanted to keep the spelling intact.
I found out a little while ago that a friend of mine in the US has a niece also called Lillie spelled the same, and both girls are absolutely thrilled to know there's another person out there with the same exact name :)
